Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it is the perfect time to show our appreciation towards all the people and things we are grateful for in the past year. Not an expressive person? No worries! Thank you does not always have to be said. In fact, thank you can mean much more when you do it through your actions.
Here are 10 ways you can say thank you without actually having to say it:
1. Make them a meal
Just as the saying goes, “the way to a man's heart is through his stomach”; it is no surprise that all men (and women) loves food. Not only that the receipient will definitely enjoy the gift of food, he/she will also feel extra loved with the time and effort you have put in preparing the meal. Serve the meal on pretty plates and trays and serve to them in bed, or pack it with a ribbon and thank you note!
Hugs are so underrated. Do you know that giving and receiving hugs are good for our health and happiness? In fact, psychologsists have suggested that we need at least 8 hugs a day! If you feel thankful towards someone, give them a hug today and make them feel loved!
3. Spend quality time with them
Sure, we all like receiving sweet text messages or gifts. But none of these will beat getting to spend quality time together with your loved ones. Put away your phones, stay in and have a heart to heart session, or take them out for a nice dinner. Giving your time to someone makes them feel important and appreciated – it’s really the best gift you can ever give!
4. Be there for them
Be there when the person needs you, and he/she will know that you remembered their kindness towards you. Even if they did not ask for your help, let them know you will be there, or take initiative to help them in any way you can.
5. Helping with housework
If the person you wish to give thanks to is your family, housemate, or your spouse, cleaning the house or doing laundry for them is a really good way to show your gratitude (especially if they are the ones usually doing it)! Your loved ones will definitely appreciate coming home to a nice and clean environment, and getting a time off housework.
6. Taking care of their health
Saying thankyou does not always have to be direct or straightforward. A subtle way to do it is to take care of the people you are thankful for. Drop them occassional reminders to take care of their health; or prepare healthy snacks or drinks for them once in awhile. Even better, drag them out for workout sessions or yoga classes together!
7. Cards and notes
Of course, what better way to say thank you – if you are too shy to say it in person, than to write it down? This is your chance to pour out all of your heartfelt feelings towards someone. Make the card yourself if you really want to show your sincerity! Believe me, they will love it all the same regardless how the card turns out to be.
8. Thoughtful gifts
Everyone loves presents. A thoughtful gift will let a person know how much you know them, and how much they mean to you. Careful, a common mistake people make is to buy something they like for themselves, instead of getting what the receipient wants.
9. Social Media
Social Media? Yes, social media. Dedicate a post for the person you are thankful for, and show them that you are proud to let the world know.
Who wants a getaway right now? Even if its just to a country nearby and for a few days, anyone will be overjoyed with this offer! Being chosen as your holiday partner will only make them feel extra special.
