Everyone makes a certain amount of effort to make their home clean, comfortable and pleasant for them to live in. However, there are some of us that go that extra mile (or 42893573 more miles) to make sure that their home is the ultimate haven to live in. If you find yourself constantly needing new décor items even after having purchased more than sufficient pieces…you may be a tad hooked!
Here are 9 tell-tale signs that you’re absolutely obsessed with home decorating:
1. You visit stores with no intention of buying anything
Just visiting your favorite home furnishing stores regulate you. Your idea of window-shopping is walking into these stores – complete with the mandatory ooh-ing and aah-ing at how ‘pretty’ and ‘perfect’ everything is.
You take that extra 5 minutes to appreciate the dedication and thought that went into that immaculate table setting…and how divine that glass figurine would look like on your table vignette!
2. You take photos of great spaces all the time
Most people on Instagram snap pictures of their handcrafted coffees and café food. But you would rather snap photos of great interior design instead!
Stores and cafes with impeccable architecture and décor are what spurs you on to whip out your phone for a quick snap. Be it a colour coordinated wall or a ceiling of gorgeous ceiling lights – these little details are bound to make you go crazy with dreams that you might one day own a space like that.
3. You spend hours pining on Pinterest
Mood boards, be it digital or hard-copy, are totally your thing. Your idea of the perfect night in is to spend an unlimited amount of time pining for home décor pieces that you can’t have but would dream to have.
Sometimes maybe even Pinterest isn’t enough – you print pictures of what you love and pin them at your desk too!
4. You judge books by their covers
Yes, books are for reading. But to you, they are just another opportunity for you to style them! You pick books to display on your shelf based on the colour of the spine and how ornate the cover is. After all, books ARE the foundation to any shelf-styling project!
5. You may be a...major hoarder
You strongly feel that one can never have too many candles, or candleholders, or vases, or frames…and the list goes on. The constant switching of décor has helped you accumulate a good amount of décor accents that could certainly beautify another room, or home!
6. You love to constantly rearrange things!
Your home décor is never ever stagnant. You find yourself switching it up every few days or weeks – and finding new reasons to pick up new pieces that you’ve been eyeing on. Even just a minor shift of a pillow makes a huge difference to the overall look to you!
7. You cringe at horrible home decor
Because you’re such a perfectionist at home decorating, you can’t help but cringe whenever you visit other people’s homes. You cringe on the inside when they commit the worst home decorating sins. Sometimes you’ll be able to find it in you to hide your displeasure…but most times you’ll find yourself dropping subtle ‘suggestions’ to them on how they could improve their space.
Décor wise, obviously!
8. You are a firm believer that everything has to match
The only reason why you haven’t gotten that treadmill to work at home is because it simply doesn’t match with your décor! And this is the same for other more practical things that you know you should have, but haven’t gotten because of the fear that it may not match.
Everything to you is like a stage, or an exhibition. Every décor piece’s colour and position means the world to you – and god forbid if anyone should threaten that!
9. You are always on the hunt
You may have just created your own personal haven with your mad decorating skills – but you are never 100% pleased. You’ll always be on the hunt for newer and better items to replace the ones you have!
If you’ve checked off 4 or more in this list then you’re most definitely obsessed with decorating your home! There’s nothing wrong with it – You’re just a firm believer that all things should be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
