  • Welcome to our humble nest! We are a couple living with our cat, Daikon, who's sure to make an appearance in some of our posts. Keep an eye out — you never know when she'll pop up in the background! As we open our home and showcase the little treasures within, we hope you feel the warmth and love that fills our heart. After all, our handle is @hellokokoro, where "kokoro" means heart! *** Today we're diving into our bathrooms! Our home has two bathrooms, and we'll start with a closer look at the common bathroom. Our common bathroom combines matte mink subway tiles with gold fittings, giving it a playful, kitschy vibe. Since it's a separate space, we wanted to embrace a different vibe from the modern farmhouse theme in the rest of our home — we love how it adds a bit of quirky charm to the space!
  • The tiles are arranged in a herringbone pattern for the top half and a clean vertical layout for the bottom half. These two sections are elegantly divided by a slim gold inlay, which not only adds a touch of sophistication but also creates a beautiful visual contrast that ties the design together seamlessly.
  • One of the bathroom walls is curved with a half-frosted glass panel. This unique detail adds visual interest and also allow natural light from the bathroom to filter through to the adjoining kitchen and part of the dining area. For the flooring, we chose these floral-patterned tiles! The design features soft muted tones that complement the mink subway tiles and gold accents, adding a whimsical element to the overall aesthetic.
  • Here's the other side of the bathroom, where the shower is. The subway tiles continue across the top quarter of the wall, creating a seamless transition, while the rest of the wet area is covered in matte grey tiles. The two deep niches allow us to conveniently store toiletries, keeping the space organized and clutter-free.
  • Here's the view from the other side of the frosted glass panel — it ensures privacy while still letting light flow through! You can also catch a glimpse of our kitchen here. The curved wall helps to open up what was once a narrow entrance. Don't forget to check out our other posts for a closer look at the rest of our home!
  • For the bathroom door, we opted for a white sliding bi-fold louvered design, perfectly complementing the modern farmhouse theme for the rest of our home.
  • Now, let's move on to our master bathroom! This space features a pocket sliding door that discreetly tucks behind our wardrobe when open, saving space. Be sure to check out our bedroom post for more details on how it all ties together!
  • Our master bathroom has a main ceiling light for overall illumination and an under-cabinet light pictured here that creates a softer, more ambient glow.
  • Here's a closer look at the under-cabinet lightning strip. You'll also notice our tap, which is concealed for a sleek look. Not only does this design keep the bathroom looking tidy and elegant, but it also makes cleaning much easier!
  • To maximise our sink and vanity drawer, we opted for a niche to hold the toilet paper instead of mounting a typical holder. You'll also notice that our toilet bowl is wall-hung, which not only enhances the clean look but again, makes cleaning a breeze!
  • All the bathroom fittings in here, including these hooks, are finished in chrome for a cohesive, polished look. When choosing hooks, it's important to go for ergonomic designs to ensure they securely hold your items without the risk of them slipping off!
  • Here's the other side of our bathroom. Unlike our common bathroom, this space features more natural-finish tiles — with large grey tiles that have subtle white veins paired with warm wood tiles, creating a tranquil and earthy feel.
  • The mirror spans all the way to the ceiling, enhancing the sense of space and adding an elegant touch. One half of it opens up to ample storage space behind it, offering both style and practicality.
  • Just like our common bathroom, we have two niches here, positioned off-center along the edge of the wall. It's crucial to ensure the niches have a subtle slant so that water drains down easily, preventing any build-up or pooling!
  • Both bathrooms feature a gentle slope that separates the shower area from the dry space, offering a smoother transition than a traditional step. This design also reduces the risk of tripping!
  • Since we wanted all our fittings concealed, the wall needed to extend out to accommodate them. However, this also meant we had to carve out space for the floor trap, which couldn't be relocated. Instead of opting for a small, "mouse hole" niche which we find unsightly, our ID incorporated a larger asymmetrical niche into the design making it both functional and visually interesting.
  • Here's how our bathroom sliding door looks when it's closed! It's a simple two-panel design with an adorable handle that's flushed with it. That wraps up our post — thanks for taking a look!
