A Royal Retreat: Creating the Perfect Bath Sanctuary for ‘The Queen'

As a DINKWAD, our common bathroom doesn’t see much daily use. As such, we decided to transform a seldom-used space for guests into her dedicated bathroom. To make bath time more enjoyable and hassle-free, we made a few thoughtful modifications. These adjustments not only cater to her needs but ensure the bathroom remains a functional and versatile space.
The sink area is both sleek and functional, with a built-in cupboard that discreetly stores all our toiletries, keeping the countertop clean and clutter-free. The cupboard itself boasts a modern aesthetic, with a muted color palette and a textured finish that adds depth to the overall design. The centerpiece is the Kohler Maxispace Vanity Lavatory, a clean-lined sink paired with a single, minimalist faucet. Together, these elements create a simple yet sophisticated look, perfectly in tune with the bathroom's calm and refined atmosphere.
One unique feature of the Kohler Maxispace Vanity Lavatory is the absence of a visible drain hole, which gives the sink a sleek, uninterrupted surface. This design choice not only enhances the minimalist aesthetic but also makes cleaning much easier, as there are fewer crevices for grime to accumulate. It’s a subtle detail, but one that adds to the overall streamlined look of the bathroom.
In keeping with the design consistency of our home, we opted for the American Standard Acacia Supasleek one-piece toilet bowl in the common bathroom as well. Its seamless, modern design complements the minimalist vibe of the space, while its compact form makes it ideal for a smaller bathroom. Just like in the master bathroom, we appreciate its ease of cleaning and sleek appearance, ensuring that even a seldom-used bathroom maintains a polished, refined look.
For the shower area, we made the conscious decision to forgo shower screens, creating a more open and spacious feel. This not only reduces the sense of claustrophobia but also makes it more convenient when 'the queen' takes her royal bath. T\ The absence of screens allows for easier maneuverability and adds to the overall airy atmosphere. We opted for the Hansgrohe Crometta E Showerpipe, which provides a luxurious, rain-like shower experience, perfect for unwinding after a long day, or just making bath time a bit more fun for everyone.
In designing the bathroom, a sophisticated and modern ambiance is achieved through a meticulously chosen tile palette. The Livingstone Nero floor tiles anchor the space with their deep, rich black hue, providing a sleek and dramatic foundation. The walls are adorned with Statuario Superiore Rett tiles, which mimic the elegance of marble with their pristine white surface and subtle grey veining, adding a touch of luxury and brightness. The standout feature wall, crafted from Edimaxastor Golden Age Grey Circ Ret tiles, introduces a striking grey tone with intricate circular patterns, creating a focal point that exudes contemporary charm. The interplay of these textures and colors not only enhances the room’s visual appeal but also adds a refined and cohesive feel to the overall design.
To enhance both functionality and comfort in the bathroom, a practical ledge was installed to cater to the needs of 'the queen.' This thoughtful addition allows her to comfortably sit during her bath, alleviating the strain of bending over while showering her. By providing a dedicated space for her to rest, the ledge not only makes the bathing process more enjoyable for her but also significantly reduces the physical strain on our backs, transforming what was once a backbreaking task into a more manageable and pleasant experience.
To further enhance the bathing experience for 'the queen,' a convenient holder for the handheld shower was installed. This thoughtful feature ensures that our hands remain free, allowing us to focus on delivering a thorough scrub and soothing massage. The added flexibility and ease of use not only improve the efficiency of her bath time but also ensure that every session is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for our royal highness.
As ‘the queen’ of this lovely abode, I must say, the new bathroom upgrades have made my bath times even more royal. The ledge is my favorite spot, offering the perfect perch to relax while I enjoy my soothing showers. The handheld shower holder is a splendid addition too, making sure that I get the best scrubs and massages without any interruptions. Every detail, from the luxurious tiles to these thoughtful enhancements, shows just how much my humans care about making my bath times comfortable and pampering. I couldn’t ask for a more regal retreat!
