  • Welcome back to Haus of Jely. In this post, let’s tour around the master bedroom! The colour palette seamlessly extends from the rest of the house, creating a calm and serene atmosphere that promotes restful sleep. This room is significantly larger compared to our previous typical BTO room size, allowing us to incorporate all our ideas while still having ample space. Let’s take a look at each feature together.
  • The first thing you'll notice upon entering is the bed. Although it’s a queen size, the frame measures as a king size due to the frame around the mattress. We love this feature as it allows us to step down comfortably when we wake up, place items like our phones and iPads, and provide a safety step for our young children. This design also creates a recessed area for the mattress, keeping it securely in place. Additionally, this bed is a storage bed, ensuring no space is wasted. We use it to store large and rarely used items.
  • Behind the bed, you’ll see a headboard spanning across one side of the room. Initially, our ID planned for the headboard to end before the slanted wall, but we felt it ended too abruptly and couldn’t accommodate a niche beside the bed. So, we decided to extend it all the way. This allowed us to create a niche for an electrical point and made the design more seamless.
  • A LED strip light was installed on top to create ambiance. Since the LED light faces upwards, it prevents glare, perfect in a bedroom setting!
  • We added a wall lamp on the slanted wall that depict a full moon. The front plate can be rotated to created different moon phases.
  • We chose a light-colored laminate for our wardrobe. Being the largest item in the room, a dark color would have been too overpowering and made the room feel smaller. On the far left, there is a tinted glass panel for hanging clothes that are too clean to wash but too dirty to hang back in the wardrobe, commonly known as "The Chair." This prevents worn clothes from being scattered around, while the tinted glass hides the mess but still allows us to see the items inside. This spot can be converted to bag storage or display in the future if we wish. A little tip to save some cost on electrical point, is to use an multiple adjustable lights so you only have to pay for 1 electrical point.
  • At the front, we have a long TV console, with the left end seamlessly designed as a dressing table area, a design commonly found in hotel rooms. We adapted this idea as we find it useful whenever we stay in a hotel. The only downside is it might get a little messy sometimes, but isn’t that how normal life should be? Anyway, we also get plenty of storages at the bottom too! Definitely a win :D
  • The dressing table side features a tall, irregularly shaped LED-lit mirror. The organic shape softens the area, and the tall mirror is perfect for anyone with long hair. We often use the mirror simultaneously as a couple, with one seated and the other standing. The LED light is helpful for makeup and doubles as ambient lighting. Most importantly, since we co-sleep with our young children, we can even apply skincare at night with the gentle light without disturbing their sleep. On the side, we installed a tall cabinet specifically designed to store many skincare and beauty products, which also hides our curtain when open during the day!
  • We chose a black-coloured, double-leaf door with fluted glass for our master bathroom. This decision was driven by our desire for a bathroom door that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Given that the door occupies a prominent position in the room and is directly visible from our bed, it was important for it to complement the overall design. The black wood details add a touch of elegance and sophistication, while the fluted glass offers a subtle texture that provides privacy without compromising on style. This combination ensures the door seamlessly integrates with the rest of the room's decor, enhancing the visual appeal and creating a cohesive look. Thanks for staying throughout the bedroom tour. We can't wait to take you on another detailed tour of different areas of our home. See you in our next post!
