  • Picture a space where every corner tells a story, a room that doesn’t just look good but feels like home. That’s what we set out to create in our living room—a space where character is woven into every detail and where every piece reflects a bit of who we are. Working in the creative industry, especially with collectibles, has really shaped how I approach our home. I used to breeze past statement pieces, but now, I can’t get enough of those little treasures that make a space uniquely ours. Not that I’m some styling guru— I'll be the first to admit that I’m still figuring it out. For now, our priority is to collect what we love and think about improving styling later.
  • One of the standout pieces in our living room is the custom TV console, which was a labor of love. We found an antique furniture shop and instantly connected with the owner and her extensive collection of pieces. It was one of those unexpected moments where you find exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for. Both of us developed a strong attachment to the oriental frames she had in her store, and we decided to take a leap and use one of them as a central element in our console design. The process wasn’t quick—we waited three months for this piece to come to life. We also fell in love with the look of brass plates as handles, so we combined these two elements and ended up with this final product that we’re still head over heels for. I’ll admit, we had some doubts at first. It was a big investment, and we worried we might grow out of it. But now, nine months in, we find ourselves falling in love with it all over again. It’s definitely one of those statement pieces that will follow us through the years.
  • One of the most eye-catching pieces in our living room is our Swatch Maxi. We discovered it in Kyoto during a trip, right when the Maxi Visty by Verdy was first released. I’d been searching for a Swatch wall clock for what felt like ages, but nothing ever truly caught my eye. Then we saw this piece—bold, striking, and totally unexpected. Initially, we hesitated, thinking we might take some time to decide. But when the sales assistant mentioned there were only three pieces left, and with another customer eyeing it, we knew we had to act fast. In that moment, impulse took over, and we made the purchase. Despite the hassle of bringing such a bulky item back, it was the best decision. This watch has become one of our favorite pieces—fun, quirky, and completely in sync with our style.
  • Another fun addition to our living room are the two Murakami flower cushions we bought in Japan. We queued outside Tonari No Zingaro for 45 minutes to get them, and initially, I planned to buy just one. But as we were queueing, the cushion grew on Mr. Homie, and he subtly hinted, “I think you need to get a pair; one feels out of place.” It didn’t take much convincing—oh, the joys of adult money! They’re now a colorful, cheerful duo that adds a playful touch to our sofa.
  • This corner of our living room is a blend of nostalgia and pride. The shelves on the left hold some of Mr. Homie’s fondest childhood memories—books he read growing up, toys he owned, and little pieces of the past that still bring a smile to his face. It’s a small but meaningful space, capturing the essence of his journey through the years. The Mustard Made Lowdown locker is not just a storage piece; it’s a statement. On top of it stands one of my favorite products from my company—a collectible that I’m incredibly proud of. It’s a daily reminder of the work I love and the creativity that fuels me. And above the cabinet, you’ll find my ever-growing collection of Smiskis. What started as a single figure quickly turned into an addiction. Now, the whole shelf is filled with these quirky little characters, adding a playful and personal touch to this special corner of our home. As you can see, every part of our living room tells a story—whether it’s a nod to the past, a celebration of the present, or a hint at our future. It’s a space that reflects who we are, full of character and warmth, and most importantly, it’s a place that feels truly like home. We’ve enjoyed every moment of bringing this room to life, and we hope you’ve enjoyed this little tour of our favorite space.
