  • If you’re a first-time home owner, it can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start. But don’t worry—here’s a handy guide to help you navigate the key points of planning your dream bathroom, with some practical tips to make things a bit easier!
  • Shampoo & Soap Ledge Drama We planned a ledge for bathroom essentials, but the space between the ledge and door was too tight. So, we swapped out the toilet door for more room. In the end, we had to ditch the ledge idea altogether. Less clutter, more space!
  • In the end, we opted for a full feature-tiled wall with corner shampoo niches, and we absolutely love it! We made sure to place the niches higher, since we're both pretty tall—it makes reaching everything so much easier.
  • Tiles: The Unsung Heroes When choosing tiles for wet areas, always go for R10 rating or above. What does that mean? It refers to the slip resistance of the tiles. Higher ratings (R10 and up) reduce the chance of slipping on wet floors. So, pick tiles that look good and keep you safe. Zoning! Think about whether you want a shower screen or not. While shower screens look sleek, they can be a pain to clean. Plus, if you don’t want glass to trap steam and moisture (or risk cleaning it every few days), you might prefer an open shower area. We love the simplicity of an open concept—it’s easy to maintain and feels spacious!
  • From our initial rendering of wood laminate storage and vanity cabinet, we did a 360 and went with concrete laminate instead. We also opted out of full mirror vanity to avoid less cleaning of fingerprints and marks on the mirror. Instead, we have a centre easy-to-reach niche to place items that we need on a daily basis such as toothbrush, floss and skincare etc. Definitely loving the cleaner look, can't wait for the space to be ready!
