  • Welcome to @chanceuponchanshome cozy and comfy master bedroom! We designed our house based on minimalism and this is the room with our favourite laminate - Mood Microcement 🩶 Some things we had in mind while designing this space: • Wardrobe to connect the bathroom and bedroom • Symmetry around bed area i.e. same bedside tables and lightings on both sides (so having the bed pushed against the window was a no-go for me) • Bedhead must be placed against solid wall • Must be spacious! Read on to find out more!
  • Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by our L-shaped wardrobe flushed against the wall connecting to the bathroom. Getting dressed near the bathroom is important as there may be repetitive tasks such as washing hands or checking the mirror in this area. We installed champagne gold switches to match with our cream-coloured laminate. We saved money here by keeping the HDB vinyl flooring, which we think gives a very warm and comfortable vibe for a sleeping area. Our laminates and furnishing selections are also consistent with this theme. Overall, this room exudes a warm and cozy atmosphere for a good night’s rest! Fengshui Tip 1: Place your bed in a commanding position, meaning the door can be seen from the bed, but not directly in line with the door. This provides sense of security and control!
  • The little one loves to spend time in our bedroom as well. We also have a comforter from our previous place that is “a bit” bright in colour 😂 Other than the comforter, all other items are carefully chosen to keep our bedroom theme consistent. Any black items are meant for contrast! Our wall colours are also creamy and a darker shade for our bed head side (for slight contrast). Having darker shades in the bedroom helps with sleeping! In our old place, our walls were 4 white walls and it felt a lot like prison lol
  • A queen-sized bed to have sufficient space for rolling around, modern and sleek bedside lights that are placed equally apart from the bed frame, and a huge collection of Craftholic soft friends. (Mr says they are not toys but friends) Fengshui Tip 2: Create symmetry on both sides of bed for harmony and balanced energy.
  • Our Slumberland bed frame and mattress that really brings us into slumberland daily! Our little one sleeps for longer hours when she’s sleeping here. NO CAP. The bed head and bed frame is very solid and cushy; has a little storage behind the big cushions. We keep things organised by only keeping bed related stuff in this storage space! Its greyish-cream colour also matches well with our wall colour, flooring and wardrobe. Fengshui Tip 3: Have a solid headboard for stability and support. Fengshui Tip 4: Declutter beneath the bed. That’s why we chose not to have a bottom storage bed. However, if really need to, store only positive/useful items like bedsheets etc!
  • On both sides of our bed we have matching bedside tables. We were a little reserved when buying the bedside tables and bought it just a little smaller than we should have. However, we quickly came to realise that the extra space allows for sound projection from the speakers! 🫢 (to date, only the Mrs. connects her music. She really likes to wake up to soothing music and have music accompany her daily activities)
  • The same lights and bedside table for the Mrs. Our bedside table with 2 drawers comes with Bluetooth speakers, USB and Type-c ports on the side, and a wireless charging pad on the top. It also comes with tri-coloured LED lights framing the charging pad! Also we purposefully selected a light beige colour bedside table to match with our creamy and cosy theme for our MBR. Sad story: We covered the bedside table top glass panel with our favourite dust bag because we seldom use the in-built charging pad as it’s not fast charging. :( we will try again someday!
  • Why queen-sized? We almost went for King-sized bed because we wanna sleep like a king but it’s definitely more expensive and space-consuming. Our ID also mentioned if we got a King-sized bed, the space between the bed and walls/wardrobe will be limited and it might be harder to find a bedside table replacement in the future! He also mentioned about the differences between blinds and curtains, and we need to give curtains about 10cm extra depth for the fabric to move smoothly. I think this is something everyone can consider when choosing between blinds and curtains!
  • Also if you noticed we do not have TV in our bedroom, in order to prevent overusage of electronics in a resting space.
  • We hope you enjoyed our post on our MBR and that it has helped you with designing your own room! 🩶
