  • This time, we’re excited to share how we select our home decor. We love wood and warm tones, and we draw inspiration from various Japanese interior design YouTube channels to achieve a similar aesthetic
  • We love our living room so much! Here, we display various plants, choosing easy-to-maintain types since I’m still a beginner at plant care. We noticed that many Japanese homeowners incorporate plants, so we tried to replicate that look.
  • To keep the house looking tidy, we avoid using too many colors. For example, we chose black, white, and other natural tones for our pillowcases. Since I’m not naturally organized, selecting natural colors that blend with our interior helps minimize clutter and makes it less noticeable.
  • This vibrant red side table with drawers, which we brought from our previous place, felt a bit too bold for our current decor. So, we tucked it away at the back and added our kid's 'Sushiro' pillow to match the red.
  • We love warm lighting as well; it creates a cozier overall atmosphere. With some plants in the home office area, working feels even more inviting. Sometimes I shop impulsively just because something is on sale, like this potted plant. Luckily, it matches the overall decor; otherwise, I would have had to put it in another room.
  • Finding and matching existing decor items is always a challenge for me because every house has different things and different places to display them. For example, in this study room, I'm still not satisfied with the LEGO in the middle of the shelves. But we’ll figure it out someday! It’s okay to keep trying until you find a setup that makes you happy.
  • We love dried flowers too, as they are a common decor element in Japanese homes. I'm not sure how to create flower arrangements, but somehow this 'anyhow' arrangement feels acceptable in this area.
  • We recently updated this bar counter area by adding bar stools, and this table lamp fits perfectly here. It brightens up the space without being overly bright, creating a cozy atmosphere for a relaxing night. In this setup, you can see that the chairs are very modern, while the lamp has a rough, rustic finish. My husband and I have somewhat different tastes when it comes to decor, style, and design.
  • So, for new homeowners, don’t be afraid to mix and match your decor items. There are no strict rules, and you don’t have to follow trends. Instead, focus on finding your own timeless style.
