  • When it came to deciding an interior style for our home, I was inspired by various design styles that I had come across on Pinterest, Instagram and also YouTube home tours (mainly modern Japanese homes). I found myself liking simple designs, natural finishes, raw elements, and bright and airy spaces.
  • We got many sample pieces of laminate from different brands and brought them to our home to see how they would look under real lighting conditions in the different rooms. I'd recommend visiting the showrooms as well to view and feel the full laminate sheets. I had decided on one but after seeing the full piece, I realised it had a lot of knots in the wood grain which I did not like.
  • We went with this maple laminate in the end and used it in all rooms except the toilet.
  • Cabinet fronts are kept minimal without any door knobs. We got these circular finger pulls instead which I find cute!
  • The plywood windows of our study room have exposed edges. The lines and natural colours are visually appealing to me as it shows the nature of how plywood is made.
