  • "Every home has its own story to tell." This was what our ID said after viewing our home. When he first walked into the space, he was silent as he stayed a few minutes at each space, admiring the house. He was tuning into the unique "character" of the house, its history and the experiences associated with each living space. This story is always unique to each house, and it takes someone who "feels" the environment to notice this story. As a second-time homeowners, we had a clear set of preferences and aversions that we wanted to incorporate into our new home. Our interior designer suggested creating 3D renderings to help us better understand our options and make more confident decisions. When the design rendering was out, we had about four rounds of alignment. Despite having deliberated on the rendering, there were still many things that we could not possibly finalize ahead of time. This was why our ID advised that he would take care of the nitty-gritties of the renovation, while we focused on the flow and looks of the house.
  • Upon receiving the rendering, we envisioned how we would navigate through the house to ensure a smooth living experience. This ultimately led us to choose a rounded corner dining table that matched the theme of our renovation. We have an article that tells the story of our dining table; feel free to check it out.
  • Seeing the kitchen rendering helped us picture the final design, allowing us to make better choices. The initial plan included a glossy backsplash and extra storage drawers, but considering the overall renovation expenses, we decided to tone down some elements to remain within our budget.
  • We opted to use large-sized tiles and also reduced storage drawers. We also decided not to have the "pull-out" sauces rack. The large-sized tile backsplash turned out to be better looking than the original white glossy backsplash, don't you think so? Renovating a home is a journey filled with exciting decisions and creative possibilities. By visualizing design concepts, considering spatial relationships, and anticipating the final outcome, you can make more informed choices and ensure a smoother renovation process. Here are some tips for new homeowners planning their renovation: 1. Visualize the Design Concept: - Renderings turn abstract ideas into clear visuals, helping you see furniture placement, color schemes, and lighting. Experiment with different color schemes to achieve various looks. 2. Consider Spatial Relationships: - Renderings show the scale and proportion of elements, aiding in understanding furniture and decor placement. They also help visualize traffic flow and functionality, such as kitchen island placement or seating arrangements. 3. Anticipate the Final Outcome: - Renderings simulate lighting and color effects, helping you choose the right palette and lighting. They also allow you to see materials in context, aiding decisions on finishes like flooring and cabinetry. We hope these tips help you create a space that reflects your style and meets your needs.
