Welcome to our dining room! Apart from being our dining area, it’s our occasional WFH space after Clems started to WFH. We’ve spent many days WFH together since. Our dining area is also where we host; from dinner to wine nights and the occasional poker nights with friends!

It wasn’t easy finding a round dining table much less an extendable one in the right shade of wood. We were really lucky to find one at Noden during one of their drops and it has served us really well the past 1.5 years! Due to the nature of the wood, it does require some care like making sure to use coasters and all. But over time, our friends got used to it and we love how they will take the initiative to use a coaster or wipe away any water when they’re over!

Our 1.2m table extends to 1.8m opened up and sits about 8-10 pax! Love how it opens up to like a “racetrack” shape and it fits a poker mat nicely too 😉

Lights were a big part which we spent time experimenting with from the start of our renovation journey. We initially opted for a molecule-style pendant light, but decided that a low hanging pendant will bring more charm to the area and to match the surrounding furniture. Another upgrade we had done recently was to introduce Philips Hue smart lights to pair with Apple HomeKit. Something easy to add if you did not plan for a smart home like us during renovation.

Love how our bookshelf fits nicely into this space here. So the indent here came with the initial BTO design, but we worked around it to look for a shelf that would fit into this space. You can check out the "before" look on our Instagram page! We call this our “seasonal shelf”, because it changes with the seasons - from Chinese New Year to Christmas, the decoration on this shelf will change as the year goes by! Now it's just a bit cluttered with little souvenirs we receive from our travels and our friends.

And on some days when we want a cosier setup, we'll just close the blinds in the entire house and switch on our warm lights! It's "Brunch scene" on our Apple HomeKit to host our friends for afternoon tea and we change up the table's look with a neutral coloured table cloth.
