  • The first morning after we moved in, we woke up, smelt a strong burning smell and thought that our house had caught fire 🫨 (it was seriously THAT bad). Turns out it was the burning of incense by our neighbour who’s living downstairs. Gave us such a huge scare!!
This got us on the search for something to seal our door gaps to reduce the amount of smoke entering our house.
  • 💦 Shower dam barrier water retaining strip
This is meant for shower areas but thankfully it works perfectly in sealing the vertical door gap! Took us super long to find this because we had a rough idea of how it looked like but didn’t know what it was named 😂
  • The water retaining strips came with red liners, which looked quite hideous on our door so we decided to tear them away 🫣
  • We replaced the red liners with white masking tape so that the strips would blend in with our door.
  • Looks much better after applying 2 layers of white masking tape!
  • 🚪 Door seal
We also got a door seal to keep wind, dust and insects out. It can be cut to fit our door width, and is easily installed (just slide it through the gap at the bottom of the door). Glad to share that the smell of smoke has been significantly reduced ever since we installed both items!! 🥹 Hope this is useful! Let us know if you have tried any other methods and share with us what works for you ☺️
