  • Welcome to our cosy home @dayswithjoie! We're living in a 4-room resale HDB in the Northeast region of Singapore, and we're excited to share how we've transformed the space into a reflection of our style and personality. Without further ado, here's a little sneak into our living room!
  • While many people might shy away from a west-facing unit because of Singapore's intense afternoon sun, we happily embraced it to enjoy the breathtaking sunsets that fill our living room with a warm, golden glow. To save on renovation costs, we opted not to install any false ceilings or curtain pelmets. Instead, we chose white light fixtures that blend seamlessly with our white ceiling, along with aesthetically pleasing ripple fold (or S-fold) curtains. By hanging our curtains at ceiling height, we achieved a tall ceiling effect, enhancing the overall spaciousness of the living room.
  • We love basking in the golden hour as nature beautifully bids farewell to the day. That’s why we chose sheer linen curtains, allowing the warm sunset glow and ample natural light to fill our living space.
  • To prevent our home from feeling too creamy due to our wall paint choice and light wood vinyl flooring, we opted for a forest green sofa to add a pop of colour. To enhance the cosy atmosphere, we paired it with cushions in warm hues. Our dog loves to lounge on the sofa!
  • To make our living room feel more spacious, we picked a small round coffee table. Although small in size, it has served us well as both a dining table and a workspace for working from home.
  • We opted for walnut-coloured wood for most of our furniture to beautifully complement our lighter vinyl flooring. To save on renovation costs, we decided against a false TV wall and embraced the visible wires. Since this is our home and not a showroom, there’s no need for perfection. Plus, these visible wires add a casual and relaxed feel to our space.
  • We softened the overall look of our living room by rounding one of the corners, creating a gentle, welcoming curve. This spot doubles as a display area, perfect for showcasing seasonal decorations, like our Christmas tree during the holidays. Honestly, we have no idea what interior design theme our home falls under. We started with mid-century modern, added a touch of Scandinavian style along the way, and sprinkled in some pops of colour and retro vibes. What do you all think? Also, stay tuned in the coming weeks as we share more of our cosy home! :)
