  • Welcome to this kids' playroom glow-up story! Thoughtfully designed for a pair of cute sisters, the brief was to keep it gender neutral.
  • BEFORE: There was no designated zone for various activities.
  • AFTER: We allocated one part of the room for a calm corner. Calm down corner also known as a cozy or quiet corner helps children to practice identifying feelings and emotions to better manage stress, self-regulate and control their impulses.
  • Here's a guide on how to create a calm corner: 1) Ensure the space is well-lit but not overly bright, with natural light if possible. 2) Introduce soft textures through rugs, cushions, and blankets. 3) Decorate the calm corner with items that evoke a sense of peace and tranquility such as plants or artwork.
  • 4) Choose calming colours and patterns to enhance the serene atmosphere. 5) Keep the calm corner tidy and inviting. Regularly check if any items need replenishing or refreshing.
  • BEFORE: A disorganised array of toys and books.
  • AFTER: Storage solution to suit the needs. Wall shelves for additional storage and baskets can be used for better categorisation of toys, supplies and hiding mess! Points to note: 1) Placing storage at child height will encourage independence and a sense of ownership. 2) Ensure that furniture and storage units are securely anchored to the wall to prevent tipping.
  • It was such a delight to turn this room into a Dress-up space! Here are some steps and ideas to help you create a charming and functional space:
  • 1) Choose a color palette that complements the theme. Soft pastels or vibrant colors often work well for a girls' dress-up room. 2) Incorporate elements that reflect the girl's personality. This could include their name on the wall, personalized artwork, or favorite characters.
  • 3) Install a clothing rack or wardrobe with hooks to display and organize costumes and accessories. 4) Add soft furnishings like plush rugs, cushions, and curtains to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
  • 5) Include a dresser or vanity with drawers to store smaller accessories like jewelry, shoes, and hair accessories. 6) Use baskets, bins, and shelves for additional storage.
  • 7) Decorate the room with themed wall decals, murals, or wallpaper. Remember, the key is to make the space fun, imaginative, and tailored to the individual interests of the girl using the room.
