  • How time flies - it's been exactly 1 year since we officially established ourselves as bishanhomies! Our journey to finding the perfect home wasn’t just about square footage or location—it was about finding a place that felt right, a place where we could truly see ourselves growing and creating memories. After what seemed like an endless search, we finally found it: a 25-year-old, 1098 sqft resale flat in a point block.
  • This flat had its quirks—awkward diagonals in the living room and kitchen, a large living room paired with smaller bedrooms—but these so-called imperfections actually made it perfect for us. The spacious living room quickly became the heart of our home, and we loved how the bedrooms opened directly into it, without long corridors separating us. It made everything feel more connected, more intimate—a place where we could all be together without feeling like any part of the house was too far away. Being near both our parents was a huge plus, something we really valued in this home. The mid-floor location struck the right balance for us, offering enough privacy while still feeling connected to the world outside.
  • Of course, it wasn’t all perfect from the start. We had to give the place a bit of an overhaul to make it truly ours. But now, after all the renovations and personal touches, it feels like the forever home we dreamed of—a place we can see ourselves staying in for the next 15 to 20 years, at least.
  • Of course, it wasn’t all perfect from the start. It was a 25-year-old house, after all, so we had to give the place a bit of an overhaul to make it truly ours. We embarked on what turned out to be a pretty extensive renovation journey. We knocked down walls, rewired the electrical points, and infused every corner with our personal style.
  • Those awkward diagonals? They became design opportunities—challenges that, once overcome, made the space feel uniquely ours. We worked closely with our ID to ensure every decision brought us closer to creating a home that was not just functional, but also a reflection of who we are. This is me trying to tell my ID that I want to make sure I can fit a mahjong table & luggage in the store hahahah. (spoiler: we made it happen!)
  • Of course I had to squeeze in some curved box ups LOL.
  • Exclusive reveal of our (WIP) common toilet - these subway tiles are probably my favourite tiles in the house. I'm obsessed with the rich colour and the vintage vibe it gives. This makes me miss tile shopping so much, it was undoubtedly my favourite part of reno.
  • What an exciting year it’s been! We’re so grateful for the smooth reno journey that’s brought us to this point. Now, with all the renovations and personal touches in place, it finally feels like the forever home we’ve always imagined.
