House Hunting Journey | When HDB decides on the layout for you

  • When we first decided to start our search for a home, a few of the more common questions came to mind - should it be near our parents, how is the accessibility, will the area be noisy, etc. We finally decided to select Tampines as it was near our parents’ place, when the other alternative had no new launches at that time. Being in a mature estate gave us the flexibility to either drive or take public transport, which was extremely convenient. Plus point: proximity to our parents means that we can deposit our doggo and not worry that he may have to eat dinner late!
  • The original layout was cookie cutter, with the bomb shelter by the front door. The kitchen came without a partition wall and was pretty square. The proposed living space was also relatively narrow due to the positioning of the bomb shelter.
  • If you've read our earlier posts, you would know that we hacked the walls of one our rooms to expand the living area. This space is currently where our dining area is at.
  • The indent wall where our self is placed at was already there so the only thing we did was to add the curved edges
