  • Hello and welcome to our humble entryway! To set the tone right as you step into our home, we designed a L-shape shoe cabinetry that creates a welcoming entry nook.
  • As we do not have any dedicated display shelves around the house, we decided to showcase our collection of collectibles and figurines right above our shoe cabinet, adding a personal touch and some character right at the door.
  • To stay within budget, we decided to keep the original gate and door, as they were still in great condition. Rather than replacing them entirely, we sourced a contractor who helped us refresh the look with a laminate print that seamlessly complements the finishes throughout our home.
  • We also gave our DB box a subtle facelift with a laminate overlay —it's so discreet, you might not even notice it in this photo! To complete the update, we also swapped the traditional magnetic stopper for a sleek hydraulic slide arm, giving the door a much cleaner, more modern look.
  • Now comes the slightly more exciting part of this post! If you’ve read our house tour, you’ll know we re-tiled the floor after hacking down a small wall near our kitchen. Initially, we planned to use the same tile as the original, but our ID advised us that the color difference would be too noticeable. We were then steered towards choosing a feature tile instead. Although we were hesitant, we trusted the advice and went ahead with it. Looking back, however, we realize that the decision was less than ideal, and we definitely regret not sticking with our original plan!
  • This was something I’ve always disliked about the house but begrudgingly accepted during handover, as the ID insisted there was absolutely nothing more she could do. Look at the misalignement of the tiles *cries*
  • After putting up with it for over a year, I finally decided to see if there was any way to improve the situation. Thankfully, after a long search, I found a shop that could print laminate in the exact design of our feature tile! We just received it and eagerly laid it on the floor to see how it would look, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Can you tell apart the real tile from the laminate?
  • All that's left now is to find a contractor who can help us stick the laminate down. If you have any recommendations, please let me know! We're so excited to update this post with the final look!
