  • Peep! Very early on, the husband and I were quite adamant that we wanted an area specifically for the service yard so that our clothes can dry and we can keep it as clutter free as possible. We spent alot of time discussing what equipments we wanted and asked around for thoughts before deciding on the following organisation plan. Read on to find out how we keep it clutter free!
  • Firstly, we got our ID to build a floor to ceiling cabinet to - conceal the pipes (on the right) - place our laundry materials In this 5 levels of cabinet (the topmost level not in picture) are (from top to bottom): 1. Floor mats 2. Hangers, laundry pods and pegs 3. All the chemicals 4. Cloth, trash bags, steamer 5. More cloth and wet wipes Basically, anything we need for cleaning the house or cleaning clothes are all found here! Pro-tip, it was a last minute request for us, but we are thankful we managed to ask our ID to install a rod in the cabinet itself to store all our hangers! Pro-tip no.2, we installed 2 plugs here, one as spare because we foresee this to be an area we might put some appliances in the future should the counter space run out (e.g. IF we have kids and we need to have a space for UV sterilizer).
  • On the left side are our laundry baskets. The double-lid laundry basket is seperated into 2 parts - left for home clothes and right for outside clothes. I also love that it is waterproof! We can always wipe it down when it's emptied out. The laundry basket on the right is seperated into 3 parts, starting from the top - laundry nets, socks plus sports clothes and bottom-most for under garments. So far, this system works pretty well in making sure everything is tucked away and suitable for when guests are over. For example, the bottom basket for under garments is big enough that the content won't be obvious unless you stare straight inside.
  • Another highly recommended item from us is to get an automated dryer. For this particular model, there's the UV function (which helps especially when we're washing our pet rabbit items), heater and wind-blowing function! It really helps especially when we do not get much ventilation in the laundry area, with only one set of windows at the side. It is also connected and can be controlled easily from an app, highly highly recommend!
  • Like many people, we hid our robo-vacuum at this corner of the service yard as well. It is the best place in my opinion because it can be out of side and facilitates the changing of water easily (since it's near the water source). Do consider this when planning your house and carpentry too!
  • And here's our humble, simple and clutter-free service yard. Hope it helps!
