  • Hey folks 👋🏻. Welcome back to our home, today we are bringing you through the only part of the house that has built-in carpentry – our kitchen! As our home is a 4 Room BTO, our kitchen space was a tight fit for the appliances we wanted to get, which were a full sized dishwasher and oven. In order to plan this, we followed the "kitchen triangle" theory – where your three main work areas, specifically your sink, fridge and stovetops should form a triangle to make cooking more convenient. After fixing our triangle, we moved onto fixing where our other appliances will go. This helped us secure the placement of large appliances before deciding how many sockets and spaces were needed for smaller appliances like our multi cookers and water dispenser.
  • In terms of design, we chose sintered stone for our counter tops due to great reviews from our friends and ID, it is slightly pricier than quartz but we loved the colours and textures that we could choose from, and how sturdy the product was. We also got large tiles as our backsplash in order to minimise grout lines that needed to be cleaned 🤫 Finally, our favourite part, our fluted glass panels on our top cabinets, these beauties make our space brighter and less "closed off" compared to just using solid laminate.
  • LED lights installed in our top cabinets that helped to elevate the look of our kitchen cabinets. Moreover, this helps brighten our shelves where we display our favourite vintage glassware ☕️
  • As thirfty people, we love a good vintage find, and have been accumulating our collection for a while, and we're so happy to have a dedicated space to showcase our beautiful homeware. By using acrylic stands, we can display 2 tiers of glassware to make full use of our shelves!
  • On our countertop, we have our spice shelf that we thrifted (from Australia!) and helps keep our spices accessible and within reach. We are also suckers for cute home decor, including this wire organiser in the shape of a chicken 😳 that we use to store our onions and garlic!
  • Looking back, we put in a lot of thought into how our kitchen should function for us. Even though there are still improvements we wish we could make, we learned a lot about how to proper planning and organising can make your kitchen work for you.
  • All in all, our kitchen is an integral part of our home and the highlight of our open concept layout. That's all we have for you today! We will see you again soon for our next tour. ~Nay & ZQ
