When we were collecting inspiration for our home, our Pinterest boards always had a touch of wood or browns in them. We kept it Neutral Our living room is quite spacious. The both of us love hosting so wanted to create a space thats cosy without having to compromise comfort when we have 10 people around the living space.
The space before we did anything at all! We removed the skirting to create a sleek look from the floor to ceiling and overlaid the floor tiles. We weren't a fan of the shiny tiles (sorry HDB :p)
We felt that this reccessed wall didn't do anything for the space so we leveled out the wall. This also meant we can hide our TV wires behind that wall by installing a port hole in the partition wall.
Since our home is so open, we placed a similar style/colored rug in the connecting space to unify and create a visual connection between the living room to the rest of the house. This, in turn, makes each room flow from one to the next as this draws the eye from one space to the next. This tip works particularly well in neutral and/or minimal spaces.
A low profile sofa give a modern look to the space. I love that we have a 3m sofa that can comfortably sit 6 people
How the space transforms with curtains! Drapes Studio did an exceptional job and their service when we deciding on fabric was amazing. We were given so many options and tips to elevate our home. The tracks are mounted on our ceiling to that the curtains can be as high up as possible.
We have a great view from our home so we didn't want our curtains to complete block that out. Day curtains are perfect for this! Even though day curtains are sheer, it does a good job of blocking out the sun rays
The back of our living room is our son's play corner and a space for my plants. It's still a work in progress but I plan to put up frames above the shelves soon.
