  • One of the things that yours truly struggle in, is definitely in the department of organisation LOL. However, we still have to make this work as a well-organised kitchen not only looks great, it also helps you cook, clean, and entertain more efficiently. With the right strategies, you can transform your kitchen into a clutter-free and functional space that works for your lifestyle. Sharing some learnings learnt with all the newbies who are also struggling in this department. If I can do it, so can you! haha :) P.s Both Mister E & I are still learning & feel free to exchange learnings here!
  • 1. Visualise your daily routine and create specific kitchen zones A well-organised kitchen should complement your lifestyle, making everyday tasks easier and more enjoyable. The secret lies in zoning your kitchen based on how you live and work in it, and then optimising cabinet spaces to support these zones. After discussing through with our ID, we decided on the following zones in the kitchen based on our lifestyles: - Storage zone (Fridge, Pantry, Dry Goods) - Coffee zone - Island zone - Cooking zone - Laundry zone Here in our kitchen, we placed our refrigerator in this spot because we wanted to ensure that the two fridge doors have ample space to open without bumping into cabinets.
  • 2. Group & categorise similar items together in the correct cabinet space Here in our coffee zone, we stored the coffee capsules as well as other coffees that were given to us in the cabinet directly below. We love how this gives us a glimpse of all the coffees that are available for us to try.
  • Near the cooking zone is where we keep our bowls and plates that are used to serve our meals. We love how the tall drawers allows us to store bigger appliances like our steamboat cooker. Tip: Start by thinking about how you use your kitchen on a daily basis. Do you cook elaborate meals, or are you more of a quick-prep person? Do you often entertain guests, or is your kitchen mostly for family meals? I find that these questions better allow you to determine the kind of appliances you need and better cater the space needed for them.
  • Right above the water dispenser are all the things related to drinking lol. We have our medicines & supplements as well as spare cups that we use when we host our guests.
  • Here's the cooking zone! Above my precious thermomix are the kitchen rolls that I use for cooking as well as spare plastic boxes cause it is a blessing to share those good food with the people I hold dear to.
  • Below the thermomix are the equipment and parts that I usually use when cooking. These are mainly parts related to thermomix. By having these items near the thermomix, it makes cooking so much more efficient.
  • 3. Use drawer dividers for utensils Drawer dividers are a simple yet effective way to keep utensils, cutlery in order. Instead of rummaging through messy drawers, everything will have its place—making meal prep a breeze.
  • 4. Positioning of a covered dish rack above sink Placing the dish rack above the sink frees up valuable countertop space. This is especially beneficial in our kitchen that is combined with service yard where maximising space is essential. We like how this keeps our countertops clear for other kitchen tasks and appliances.
  • A covered dish rack offers a more visually appealing look in the kitchen. It keeps the drying dishes hidden, giving your kitchen a neat, clutter-free appearance even when the rack is full.
  • 5. Label clear containers Invest in clear containers to store cooking condiments, grains, cereals, pasta, or snacks. Label each container for quick identification and you’ll never waste time searching for what you need. It also makes it easier to track when you’re running low on something. Oops, time to stock up our sugar and salt! :P
  • 6. Clear Countertops Countertops can easily become dumping grounds for kitchen clutter. Keep them clear by storing away appliances that you don’t use daily, and only displaying essentials. Here, we used a tray to display the daily vitamins we consume as well as our water bottles and protein powder we bring to gym very regularly. By putting these items on a tray, it makes it neater and easy to move when cleaning. Tip: We purposely chose the eubiq power track because it gives us the freedom to use the space for other possible appliances in the future and not be restricted with the limited power points.
  • 7. Regular Maintenance One of the lessons we learnt is the importance of making kitchen organisation a habit. We find that spending a few minutes everyday to tidy up, wipe down surfaces makes a big difference. By keeping up with regular maintenance and reorganising our items once in a while, it can ensure the kitchen stays functional and clutter-free long term. In conclusion, an organised kitchen is more than just aesthetically pleasing—it’s key to a smoother, more efficient cooking experience. With simple storage solutions and a commitment to keeping things in order, you can turn your kitchen into a space that works for you, no matter the size or layout. Hope the above learnings help you to enjoy a clutter-free, well-organised kitchen that makes everyday tasks easier! :) Love, Ms K
