  • In today's post, we are showcasing our bedroom where we retire to every night. Here's the first look from the door when you enter our space. PS. Where's our wardrobe if it isn't in this usual corner where the mirror is situated? Read on to find out!
  • First in this cosy corner of our bedroom is our IKEA ERKAR clothes rack for ease of hanging garments, especially ones that we want to air or rewear. We decided to have this loose furniture piece instead of drilling hooks into the walls as we were not able to commit to the position of the hooks as well.
  • Next is our Sterra Dehumidifier which was a lovely gift from our friends. We love it because it really helps to reduce the amount of water vapour in the air, making us feel less sticky and comfortable in our bedroom, especially on nights when we don't use the air conditioner.
  • Styled with an arch standing mirror that we got on Shopee, this corner serves well to enable us to check out our outfits for the day before leaving the house. For those who struggle to commit to drilling mirrors to the walls, this might be a suitable option for you! Have you also noticed where our wardrobe is? (Hint: It's in the reflection of our mirror!)
  • And there you have it: our master bedroom wardrobe! In the lovely colour of Fango by Admira laminates, we really love this laminate choice made by our ID which ties into the grey and green tones of our home. In terms of carpentry decisions, a standing vanity was chosen to optimise the space below it for drawers. This allows easy access to clothing donned at home daily. One last important thing to share about this area is that we did hack the bedroom wall shared with bedroom #2 to allow for sufficient space to build this wardrobe. Additionally, it will be advisable to ensure that there is enough walking space to allow the wardrobe doors to be opened smoothly if you are considering this idea too!
  • Here's a close-up of the recessed handles for our wardrobe doors. We love the little touch of a curve to soften the overall look!
  • Moving on to our window treatments! Tying in with the palette of greys and greens, we went with these double pleated night curtains from End Curtains in the material code of 5154 06 Fox. We decided against day curtains as we felt we only needed full privacy or natural sunlight and nothing in between.
  • How do our curtains look like when drawn in the day? Here it is! With the ability to block out about 70% of sunlight, we like that it filters in just sufficient sunrays so that we know that the sun has risen in the morning.
  • As for our bed frame, we went with a storage option from Taobao to allow for more storage space and to reduce the area needed for vacuuming and mopping. For those interested in getting a bed from Taobao, do firstly note that you will need to get it customised to fit bedsheet sizes in Singapore as their standard sizes are of 1500mm x 2000mm or 1800mm * 2000mm. Secondly, do be warned that our bed frame did not come with an instruction manual, which appears to be a norm for our peers as well. Instead, we had to communicate with the seller while assembling the bed through pictures to ensure that we were on the right track. Piecing the furniture took quite a bit of time, especially to figure out the installation of the pull-up storage mechanism. While we were lucky to have engaged a great Taobao seller who guided us along the way, we will not choose to build another bed from Taobao in future. Considering local options and/or getting a handyman will be our top choices! As for our mattress, we went with the queen-sized King Koil's Energy Premier Mattress from ibenz and had it shipped together with our sofa. We really love how soft it is!
  • Proceeding with our choice of flooring - Seasonal Walnut from Evorich. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have the product on their online site but it was a lovely choice put forth by our ID Joyce and we really love the cool grey tones mixed into the brown wood, allowing for just the right amount of warmth for our bedroom. For those interested in getting this vinyl choice, asking for a sample directly from Evorich is advisable. We certainly hope that it is still in production as we really love this colour!
  • Got space for a bedside table like us? Styling it with table lamps with smaller bases to retain tabletop space is advised! Otherwise, getting fixed lights, be it pendant lights or sconces, will be beautiful as well. As we were unable to commit to this along with the priority to move around the furniture in our bedroom, we kept the walls free of fixed elements and opted for styling with table lamps. Styling tip: Going with different materials like our choice of paper for the lampshade helps to add visual interest to the room.
  • Here's how the bedside lamp looks at night! We've also got the addition of our quirky LED lying duck light which was a gift from our friend. To change up the mood of our bedroom, we do switch to using it at times.
  • For the other bedside table closer to the window, we admittedly haven't done enough to style it perfectly. That said, playing around with asymmetrical lights, photo frames, comforting scents and plants is one way to go about styling your own bedside table!
  • And that wraps up the sharing of our master bedroom! We sincerely hope that it has helped to give you some great ideas to design and style your own unique nest that will give you comfort when you rest at night. Till our next post, take care! Cheers, Mr and Mrs T
