  • This is the entrance to our simple, no-frills service yard! When designing the space, we had two main requirements: 1. Remove the original bi-fold doors and louvred windows at the sides as we felt they may make cleaning a hassle. Till now, we have not experienced any food smells lingering on our clothes - we make it a point to switch on our hood whenever we cook to remove any smells :) 2. Keep most of the laundry hidden from sight, hence the solid walls on both sides of the entrance. We went for an arch design to give it a more interesting look!
  • When it came to flooring choice, instead of sticking with the original BTO tiles, we decided to extend our herringbone vinyl flooring from the kitchen into the yard. We like how this gives a more seamless look while adding some warmth to an otherwise plain space. This area hardly gets wet (we don’t do any handwashing here), so no regrets going with vinyl flooring 🙆‍♀️
  • We placed our LG washer on this side (remember to request for a power point here during your reno) and we hang our clothes to dry on the BTO laundry rack. The clothes that come out from each wash usually dry within a day 😊 We live on a high floor so it’s quite windy; we’re also lucky to get some afternoon sun here which helps to dry the clothes faster! Hence, we don’t have a need for a dryer :) We actually wanted to do a counter above our washer to place laundry pods and decor to beautify the space, but scraped the idea to save cost 😂 We currently keep our laundry pods in the cabinet under our kitchen sink for easy access :) A wooden counter would have looked nice visually though!
  • On the other side, we have our two laundry bags - one for white clothes and one for darker clothes. We chose this design for the minimalist look :)
  • We used to keep our plastic bags unsorted in another large plastic bag, but felt it looked messy. Decided to get these two storage containers to sort them into small and medium-sized bags (we fold them into triangles first) and it looks much neater now!
