  • Introducing our neatly organized entryway/entrance with a minimalist, monochrome aesthetic. A black door (DIY door wrap) contrasts against white walls, framed by a metal gate with a brushed, textured finish and horizontal bars. Bought from Taobao (you can also purchase through Lazada), a golden shoe rack on the right holds several pairs of shoes, adding a touch of elegance. Above it, we customized our door sign as a decorative item, with a "WELCOME" note. Bright lighting casts shadows from the gate onto the floor, enhancing the geometric patterns and adding depth to the modern, clean design. For the entry carpet, we customized it from Taobao (you can purchase similar ones via Shopee/ Lazada) as well. It is designed to remove dirt from feet and shoes before stepping into the house. Its textured surface effectively captures debris, keeping the interior clean while adding a touch of modern design with its geometric patterns.
  • Here's a closer view of the customized door sign. The doorbell includes a built-in camera from Aqara, enhancing security. There's also a speaker where you can communicate with delivery folks and the app records video footage up to 7 days. You can view the recordings anytime anywhere! We are using the China version of doorbell but it can be bought locally too (refer to the link). We love our Lockin digital smart lock! It's really convenient and allows us to unlock it easily with our fingerprints. If the fingerprints don’t work, you can also use a numerical code. For example, when we returned from Japan, our fingertips were so dry that our skin had peeled, and we got locked out of our house at 3 a.m. We ended up using the numerical code to get in. ᕙ(‾̀◡‾́)ᕗ highly recommend this digital lock!
  • Our floor is adorned with large 60cm x 60cm tiles that seamlessly extend into the living room, creating a sense of continuity. It is bathed in natural light streaming through large windows, partially covered by elegant gray curtains. Inside, the minimalist decor includes a TV console with a neatly arranged vase of vibrant flowers, adding a pop of color to the monochrome theme. A contemporary coffee table complements the console, maintaining the cohesive design aesthetic. The ceiling is outfitted with recessed lighting fixtures and a modern black ceiling fan, contributing to the room's sleek and functional appearance. The white walls enhance the overall brightness and clean lines of the space, emphasizing the the contemporary and sophisticated style.
  • We chose matte tiles with white streak patterns from Hafary for the entire house, costing $3.40 per square foot. Matte tiles are less prone to showing footprints than glossy ones and are a bit cheaper per square foot. We hid the bomb shelter with a full black shoe cabinet that has a rounded edge. A niche with a switch provides space for keys and acts as a phone-charging station. This switch is incredibly useful, and we highly recommend it! We installed a smart switch with a motion sensor for the entryway light, which automatically turns on when we open the door, illuminating the house. To stick with the dark contemporary theme, we DIY wrapped our main door, saving $300-$400. It was tedious but definitely worth it! 🏋🏽‍♂️
  • Lastly, to keep the shoe cabinet clean, we bought shoe bags from Lazada for shoe storage. This also helps make our shoes look neater. A helpful tip for homeowners is to measure your shoe sizes and customize your shoe storage accordingly. We used adjustable height platforms for each pair of shoes, but they need to be placed vertically. You can coordinate with your interior designer to plan for this type of arrangement.
