  • Our dream kitchen came with an island, unfortunately due to space constrain we opted for a peninsula instead. Due to having a peninsula it made it more costly to close off our kitchen so we settled for the open kitchen concept.
  • Our kitchen is the typical 'long' layout which gave us concerns that it might be too small or cramped. Fortunately since we opted for the open kitchen concept we could stretch our counter top space as well which made food preparation easier.
  • We also added a small dry pantry area here for J's coffee setup.
  • We also chose to have a tall unit of carpentry to separate the pantry and fridge and make the tall fridge look less awkward. Thankfully it can also help to house our oven.
  • Our dishwasher and sink are ideally place next to each other for easy loading and unloading. We had little natural light coming into our kitchen and were afraid it might be a bit too dark, so instead of top cabinets we chose to have open shelving in certain areas.
  • Since we planned to cook whenever we can we also choose the conventional fire stove and added a hood to remove grease and odours when cooking.
  • As always keeping to our Japandi theme we also requsted for our cabinets to have shaker design to add a bit of flair
