  • Our homes can be a powerful reflection of our innerselves. They serve as a canvas where we can express our personalities, values, and preferences. And the living room is usually the area that showcases the style of our entire home. Welcome to our Living Area!
  • I read this somewhere that, "Someone who likes to be organised in life, chances are that their house will be clean, spacious, and uncluttered. (Or at least we try to) Homes with lots of storage and simple designs reflect those who are logical, calm and like to have things planned out." Yup, that's me, and my home style in a nutshell. :)
  • This is the overview of our Living Area. Living in a fast-paced society, many of us look forward to coming home to a calm and safe space to unwind and relax. We have a good mix of carpentry and loose furniture to help us achieve a calm, organised and uncluttered look. Neutral palettes of different textures are used to give a more relaxed and soothing vibe.
  • We like to keep our living area spacious and multifunctional so we can change things up whenever needed. Also for our kiddo to have sufficient space to run around freely.
  • We are a couple who appreciates the beauty of nature. The blend of oak wood texture and neutral coloured ripped fluted panels gives a good mix of nature and modern element to our home. I also have a soft spot for animals, so you can see subtle random animal decoration around the house. :) Our TV feature wall is the focal point of the living area. Besides hiding all wires and cords of the TV, it also double up as a storage space to hide clutter, toys and random items lying around the house before we re-organise them to their respective places.
  • We prefer to have a sit test as comfort and durability are 2 important factors when it comes to choosing a sofa. Same goes for our dining chairs and mattresses. We ended up with V Funiture's fully customisable 3 seater sofa where we get full flexibility of choosing the size, the firmness, the fabric choice, the sofa legs to our liking. We chose stain-resistant fabric that is easy to maintain so we won't get a heartattack if anyone accidentally spills on the sofa. Just wipe it with a damp cloth and the stain will be gone. Excellent for homes with pets or children. Cushion Tips: We usually buy cushions 5cm to 10cm bigger than our cushion covers, so our pillows look fuller and fluffier. Eg. Cushion 50cmx50cm, Cushion Cover 40cmx40cm. If you don’t have a green thumb (like me), adding fake plants around the house contributes lightness, warmth, and gives positive energy to your space with zero maintenance.
  • We have curtains from one end to the other end so it looks like an entire space instead of 2 separate rooms. (Recap: A room was hacked by the previous owners to create a larger living area, which we love!) Curtain choice are standardised throughout our home. Due to the thick horizontal beam above our windows, we were unable to install full-height curtains. We ended up having a pelmet to cover the curtain tracks. We also wanted ripple fold curtains, but because of space constraint, we weren't able to install it. That's ok. No Reno journey is perfect, we just make do with what we have and come out with the best solution.
  • Our Daughter's Rainbow Pet Fishes: These fishes are a new addition to our home. Our little one hand-picked all 5 of them and name them Greeny, Reddy, Orangey, Yellowy and Purpley. The fishes add a pop of colour and life to our home. :)
  • Peep through our window overlooking the lushious greenery and Sengkang River. This view is like icing on the cake, blending harmoniously with our home theme. That's all for our living room tour! Stay connected through our Instagram @rachieehome! :)
