  • Welcome to our master bathroom! Our master bathroom is a space we use daily, so keeping it low-maintenance is a top priority. At the same time, we wanted to infuse it with a luxurious hotel vibe to harmonize with the aesthetic of our bedroom. In this post we'll be sharing more about what we did to achieve a balance of both luxury and low-maintenance
  • A large undermount sink is the perfect option for the master bathroom where the sink is used daily for brushing teeth and washing face. It provides ample room for these tasks, minimising splashing. Any splashes can also be easily swiped into the sink. For the countertop, we chose to go with sintered stone for its natural aesthetic and neutral colour palette that complements our overall wabi-sabi home interior. It is also a low-maintenance material so we do not need to worry about stains caused by cosmetics (especially the lip tints!). The wall tiles, in soft earthy tones, create a luxurious and calming ambiance in the bathroom. A play of textures with smooth and textured tiles breaks up the motony of the neutral color-palette and adds depth and visual intrigue. Together with the sintered stone countertop, the tonal consistency across the materials ensures a cohesive look while allowing the textures to take center stage. The use of large-format 1200x600 tiles also keeps the toilet low maintenance with lesser grout lines and thereby less prone to grime and mold buildup. Large tiles also give the illusion of space, making smaller bathrooms appear larger and more open by minimizing visual breaks.
  • Our bathroom layout is rather unique as it is in a long rectangular shape instead of the usual square and is slightly larger than the usual BTO bathroom. This layout allowed us to build a concrete wall to separate the wet and dry area of the bathroom without compromising on space. Unlike the traditional glass shower screens that are very prone to watermarks, concrete walls are much more low-maintenance. This is important, especially for the master bathroom where the shower will be used daily. The use of tiles with soft, earthy tones on the wall also adds a seamless connection to the overall design, complementing the natural, luxurious aesthetic of the bathroom.
  • A shampoo niche can also be easily integrated into the concrete wall. This creates a clean, minimalist space for storing toiletries without the need for additional shelving or clutter.
  • Last but not least, the most important element of all - lighting! We swapped out the default HDB ceiling mesh to these concealed LED strip lighting instead for better ambience and a cozier atmosphere with softer lighting. This is also a much lower-maintenance option as there are no gaps or crevices where dust can be trapped, making cleaning much easier with a simple flat surface. That's a wrap for our bathroom post! Thanks for staying till the end. :)
