  • Hello everyone, welcome to another part of our house tour - our kitchen! This is one of the spaces that we intentionally take the time to plan for the layout and whether to make it an open concept or not. Most of the kitchen planning is done by Mrs aka Jas. Jas: I'm actually quite pleased during house viewing that this space comes with a service yard. Sooooo after thinking long and hard, we decided to make this space an open concept! We understand that this will make the aircon work a lot harder as it needs to cover this area too but it's alright, thankfully the aircon we have works great and we have a kitchen corner fan! And we're not so worried about our clothes having any smell because we hardly cook (for now).
  • This is our dry pantry area where we store dry goods like our crackers, pasta, maggie noodles, paper towels, tissues papers, toilet papers, etc. Initially we wanted to put our fridge here but we realise that the bottom freezer door can't be fully open because there's a wall just beside this pantry. Hence, we shifted our dry pantry area from the service yard to beside the hob instead. Make sure to check and consider before making the purchase! Another thing we want to mention is how our ID suggested for us to do an adjustable shelving! We agreed immediately because we don't have to stress about how much height space we need in between all the shelves and we can freely adjust it whenever we want. One thing less to stress about during reno season! We also requested for more hinges and one more shelf just in case. Maybe this is something you can consider when deciding carpentry for dry pantry? :)
  • Our drawers are mostly deep because I don't really like too many drawers and yes, perhaps it might be a waste of space but I feel maybe next time we'll just invest in those space saving racks etc to help us organise better! For this drawers at the dry pantry side, we use drawer tracks from our ID as we don't intend to put super heavy items.
  • Our very simple spice rack from excel! We wanted the famous Blum pull out spice rack system but our ID actually advised us not to. He told us to refrain from getting that because in the future, after pulling it out many times, the drawer will become loose and it won't close properly in the future. If anyone know any hack about fixing that issue, do leave us a comment to let us know! Might consider to change in the future! HAHA
  • Our cooking area is still kind of neat and when people look at our cooking area, the comment "You guys don't cook often right?" HAHA the reason is because we hang our cooking tools at the back of the hob, that's why! We chose induction over stove top because we don't want to worry about whether we forgot to turn off our gas! But one thing good about this stove top is that it's a hybrid stove top so we can use both induction and normal pot to cook.
  • Our very tall island that we LOVE to stand at and hang around whenever we have friends over. So we requested for the island to be made higher/taller at 1.05m so that we can have more storage place. Our drawers here look wide and big right? It indeed is! The drawers are 445cm deep and 667cm wide. These particular island drawers are fitted with Blum as they are more sturdy and we intend to put heavier items in them. We also prefer our oven and microwave to be at a level that we're comfortable to reach when we're baking/cooking/grilling. I know some people prefer the oven at the bottom instead. hahaha but I don't like to bend and have something hot at my feet area. Oh, also, we mentioned earlier that the fridge we placed it in the service yard - yes the fridge is huge!! But ok, really no regrets because we planned to have kids and having a big fridge will save us from having to spend that extra money in the future. Currently, the only thing lacking from our service yard is an automated laundry system! Still have yet to get it but we are getting one soon! And please please please, remember to get a corner fan in the kitchen cause it's very hot if it's not ventilated well!
  • AND AND AND my favourite area, my Blanco sink! This is something that I researched a lot on and insisted for my ID to make. I wanted a flush mount sink and thankfully Hoe Kee sells them! Just that if we want other colours, we would have to consign it and shipment would take about 6months. If you're interested, do reach out and I can share more with you! Our Blanco tap was bought from Germany Amazon as it's way way cheaper if you get from there! Our sink size is 800cm (in case anyone is wondering) and why we got it so big is because we wanted ample space when we wash our dishes. Another benefit of a flushed mount sink is that it won't mould as quickly as a top mount sink and under mount sink and it is much easier to clean when there's crumbs or water around the sink area. So far when we stay here for the past 9 months, there's no mould around the sink! Do consider getting a flush mount sink for your next home or upcoming renovation!
  • And the last additional thing we have in our kitchen is ...... POPMART! HAHAHA!! Yes, we installed this shelf in the kitchen because intially I started collecting the rabbit cafe series. And then home series came out... then the feast series!! omg, things got super unhinged and this shelf became even fuller than before. Sometimes I will just rest at the island and stare at my collection because it just brings me so much joy and happiness. And I hope you enjoy it as well! :D
