  • As this is our second time renovating, we learnt from our first home and we know what works for us and what didn't. The first one was to invest in a good toilet bowl because for the 5 years when we were living in our first home, we retained the toilet bowls provided by HDB and we really didn't like them. So when the opportunity came to do it over again, we decided to get TOTO toilet bowls. But right now my only regret is not getting the washlet and also for not making any provision to install a electrical point in the bathroom during reno for future decision to add a washlet :(
  • The second one was NO to subway tile flooring with lots of grout lines to clean since this was a space we use everyday. We had subway tiled walls in our previous master bathroom and it was definitely not easy to maintain. So we chose this big slab marble print tiles from Hafary (120cm x 60cm) for the walls and a very gritty dark grey tiles for the flooring to match.
  • When you are at Hafary, it is good to download their app and record down the serial numbers of the tiles you're interested in and ask for samples so that you can bring the samples back to mull over the choices and do a mood board before placing the order.
  • This was how the master bathroom looked like before renovation. And an interesting feature of the master bathroom is a step down shower area. We like how the water does not spray out due to the step down area, but it can also be dangerous sometimes as I tend to forget that I need to take a step down LOL!
  • We got our ID to customise this vanity with an undermount sink from TOTO. We also found that Lian Hin's Collina quartz slab matches the wall tiles perfectly so it kinda looks rather seamless. Our ID also customised the mirror cabinet for us to store our toiletries.
  • We also customised a concealed tissue box below the cabinet so that I can pull out tissue whenever I need.
  • Moving on to our guest bathroom aka the common bathroom. Since this was more like a powder room (and now our dog's shower room), we went with a more neutral earthy look with kitkat mosaic tiles.
  • This was how the guest bathroom looked like before renovation.
  • Lastly, the best buy for both bathrooms are these tension rod blinds from Taobao! Yes, they are installed using tension rods so there is no need to drill holes. We've had these blinds up for more than a year now and both are holding up very well. And the best part? Each blind was only S$18 / RMB 89! These were really the best buy for our home.
