  • Hello everyone! Welcome back to another post :) Today we will be looking at the bathrooms of our home! When we were designing the bathroom, we did not have much requirements and inspiration so we decided to keep it very minimal and functional. This is the entrance of our master bedroom toilet!
  • To keep things minimal, we opted for a neutral color scheme which were grey tiles for the walls and flooring. This creates a sense of peace and calmness. Getting big tiles also help create a cleaner look.
  • One tip we would give to new homeowners is to plan in advance where to include hooks and towel bars. We wanted a functional toilet and knew that these were essential to our everyday living. We also ensured the bars were not too high so we could access them easily.
  • Lighting plays a very key role in setting the mood and hence we opted for 2 types of lighting. The cove light is used during the night as it is dimmer and sets a more relaxing and cosy vibe. The light in the middle of the toilet is brighter and we use it in the morning when we need to feel more awake!
  • One of our must have was a ledge to display the soap and shampoo we use. We didn't want to have the built in basket as we were afraid it would rust overtime. Hence, we got a ledge built with the same tiles as our bathroom tiles. It would be good to use your hip as a guide how high it should be positioned for easy reach.
  • We avoided overcomplicating the space and opted for simple fixtures such as a wall-mounted sink and built in mirror. We love the Bulbul's diatomite hardware as it adds a touch of sophistication to the toilet.
  • A look at our built-in cupboard which we keep all our essentials. We try to keep our countertops clutter-free and store the other things out of sight to maintain a clean space.
  • Moving on to the guest toilet, we also kept them minimalist yet functional. We opted for a lighter colour scheme as well as a larger tile dimension.
  • Unfortunately our toilet is quite small and we didn't have much room to play with. Instead of going with the traditional toilet door which swings open, we opted for a sliding door in oakwood laminate to match the house theme. We are able to maximise the floor space in the toilet and make it feel more open and spacious.
  • Incorporating an open shelf in the toilet can be a practical and stylish addition. We opted for a ledge to display our essentials such as a diffuser and small indoor plants.
  • This is how the toilet looks when it is closed! I really love the oakwood laminate and how it blends in with the wall tiles.
  • One regret we have would be to install the glass shower screen as this resulted in smaller showering area. If we could rewind back the time, we should have left it open and more spacious. We hope you found some tips to make your toilet a minimalist, functional yet cosy one! Remember that it's important to build one according to your and your spouses' needs! :)
