  • Hello, we are KH & MS from @hwashan_, and we appreciate your time here with us! Take a peek at our cozy entryway—a space that greets us with just the right blend of function, style, and personal flair.
  • 1. Intimate Entrance with a False Ceiling We added a false ceiling with vinyl planks from Evorich to create a warm and inviting entrance. This design lowers the ceiling, making the space feel more intimate and clearly segments the "outdoor" and "indoor" zones. We also ensured the space remained practical by incorporating storage solutions that fit seamlessly into the design. The cream cabinet, which also serves as our shoe cabinet, fits just right for our shoe collection. To complete the setup, we added a nearly two-meter tall wall mirror by the entryway, paired with a bench for wearing shoes and doing final fit checks from head to toe. The green boxes underneath are perfect for storing socks within easy reach. In the evenings, this spot also doubles as our space for light weight exercises—a functional touch we love.
  • 2. Old-School Vibes with a Local Twist We absolutely fell in love with an old-school Tiong Bahru gate design, even though we don’t live in Tiong Bahru! Our mature estate deserved a touch of local charm, and this gate delivers just that. The cream-colored door adds to the retro vibe, making it a nostalgic nod to Singapore's heritage that we adore.
  • We’re incredibly proud of how this area turned out—it’s often the first thing we talk about when guests come over for the first time.
  • Aesthetically, we’ve added elements that enhance the visual appeal of our entryway. When you step into our home, you'll be greeted by some of our favorite little trinkets on the shoe cabinet. There’s a special quotation card from Taiwan that serves as our daily mantra. It sets a positive tone for the day. :)
  • We also recently added an IronMan suiting-up figurine. It was a gift, and we love it so much that it deserves a spot at the entryway. This mix of old-school vibes and personal touches is something we’re really proud of.
  • We love how these personal and functional elements have come together, and we often get comments from our guests about how cute our house is when they see it for the first time!
  • 3. Practical Substations with a Personal Touch Last but not least(!) we believe that functionality doesn’t have to come at the cost of personal style. Our entryway includes thoughtful substations that help us stay organized as we head out the door. One of our favorites is a repurposed wedding angbao box that now stores our masks—a gentle reminder to stay safe every day. Another is a box on the entryway bench that holds our sunspray, perfect for those last-minute touch-ups. We’ve shared a few of our favorite entryway details—now it’s your turn! What little touches make your entryway special? :)
