  • Hi!! We're featuring our service yard this week :) The original floor plan of this house came with a very long kitchen and no dedicated service yard. This worked wonderfully for us because NO PIPES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AREA!! Huge win for us!! Our initial concern with not separating our kitchen and service yard was that we would always have to keep our clothes before cooking. But having lived here for 6 months now, we realised it's not an issue for us. Our cooking is mostly kept very simple with a lot of soups, and we often do not have any heavy cooking.
  • Our washing machine from Bosch has been serving us well (and I hope it continues to do so!). We chose to "seal" up the space for us to potentially hang clothes outside on the bamboo poles because I am 1. Scared of heights 2. Am vertically inclined :( (I am unfortunately only 1.53m) So we decided that having more countertop space was more beneficial for us, and we were already leaning towards getting a Steigen, so not being able to hang clothes out was not a huge issue for us. Having this extra countertop space has been incredible for us. When we host, our cooking and cleaning extends all the way through every inch of countertop space that we have. And on laundry days, we like to take all our clothes out from the washing machine first and slowly hang it on the Steigen, rather than constantly bend over and reach inside.
  • Even though we have a Steigen, we don't always turn it on. This spot is one of the windiest places in the house, and we only use the fan or heating functions when we are in a rush to dry our clothes in preparation for guests the next day or when the weather has been rainy and humid. When we are in the kitchen doing food prep or cooking, we would turn on our Bestar's corner fan and it also helps speed up our clothes drying on the Steigen.
  • This cute magnet was gifted when we purchased our bedsheets from Weavve. It naturally found its home on our washing machine to remind us of what the different symbols represent in case we need any reference!
  • We keep all our laundry and cleaning supplies in the cabinet right beside the washing machine for easy access. Since it is only the both of us living together, we sometimes do not accumulate sufficient blacks and whites to do separate washes. The colour catcher sheets are our best friend in enabling us to wash all our clothes together. More home organisation details of the kitchen coming your way real soon so keep your eyes peeled!
