  • When we were planning on our living room design, we didn't exactly planned out for it to be a feline-approved space. We didn't even really have a theme in mind. The only thing we knew we wanted was a 'tofu sofa'. We loved the squarish structure of such sofas. We debated between Castlery's Jonathan sofa, but then decided to settle on IKEA's JÄTTEBO sofa for it's removable covers and storage below. We had this sofa before we adopted our cats and it's been wonderful. The material of the cover is sturdy and does not catch onto the nails of our cats. We don't exactly have a feature wall like most people do, but our cat wall does feel like a statement. This mounted cat wall has been a great space for my cats to nap, play and hide. We've also been so lucky that when we just adopted our first cat, someone from our estate was giving the cat tower and scratcher away. It probably would have costed us more than $50 to buy brand new ones.
  • While we were renting, we also picked up some items along the way. Such items included a ladder and our TV which we still use till today. Another free item that we got from our estate by telegram is our solid wood coffee table. It has served us so well where we ate most of our dinners here. But I think we might consider downsizing the table for a smaller one with wheels and that is convertible to be a proper height table.
  • My husband is an avid fish collector. So, I suggested for him to have an additional rack by our bombshelter rack vendor specifically for his fishes. It has been so sturdy and brings me peace knowing that the racks are heavy duty and won't collapse.
  • After we added the basics into our living room, we decided to add some colour and personality into the space. We have an acrylic cabinet to display some of our plants and sentimental decor.
  • We don't have the usual TV console as we wanted to prioritise storage. So, we got a drawer instead. I got it cheaper from carousell and it was still in good condition. We previously had our TV on a lower height console, but after having it higher this way, it felt more comfortable on our necks. The carpet was an impromptu purchase because we it was on sale for $180. Compared to its original price, it was a steal.
