  • When we first stepped into our kitchen, it was clear that we had a unique challenge on our hands. The space had an odd diagonal that immediately caught our attention and presented a set of limitations. The unusual angle restricted our layout options and made us rethink how to make the most of this quirky space.
  • The original kitchen, with its closed-off design, felt confined and disconnected from the rest of the home. We envisioned something different—a space that was open, inviting, and seamlessly connected to our living area, allowing us to engage with guests while cooking.
  • Given the limitations of the old layout, we identified key changes we needed to make: opening up the kitchen to improve flow, placing the sink and hob together for better functionality, and adding a long counter that would serve as both a practical workspace and a versatile area for hosting.
  • As the renovation progressed, we knew we had made the right decision. Seeing the space open up and the kitchen seamlessly flow into the rest of our home confirmed that our vision was coming to life. The transformation was already making our house feel more spacious and inviting.
  • With the carpentry, backsplash, and countertop in place, the kitchen was really starting to come together. We chose quartz for the countertop because it struck the perfect balance—cost-effective, durable, and easy to maintain. Below the counter, we added Kit Kat tiles, a design feature I was excited to include without the worry of grout maintenance in the bathroom or as a backsplash. For the backsplash, we selected a glossy large format tile. It offered the sleek look of real stone at a much lower cost, and it’s easy to keep clean, making it a practical yet stylish choice. (Fun fact: it's the only glossy surface in the whole house!)
  • Here’s our kitchen in its current, lived-in state, and we’re really pleased with how it turned out. The quartz countertop has been a reliable centerpiece, offering plenty of space for meal prep, whether we’re cooking up a quick dinner or baking something special. When it’s time to host, the counter seamlessly transforms into a buffet table, keeping everything within easy reach while allowing us to stay connected with our guests. This kitchen has truly become the heart of our home. It’s where we cook, bake, host, and spend quality time together. Every element supports our lifestyle, making it a space that’s both functional and welcoming.
