  • Hey readers! Thank you for coming back and staying curious on our home design. For this post, we will zoom in into our dining space. A place where we connect and reconnect in this fast pace world, tons of distraction for both the adults and children. Glad that both of us treasure meal times a lot and we both made a conscious decisions to keep distractions away from each precious meal time. Hence, we design our dining in this manner.
  • Once you enter through the main door, you will be agreed with an open view of our dining and a flash of living area. We received many positive remarks that they LOVE our dining table. It was quite a challenge searching for the "one" dining table, till we chance upon Luxa from Tan Boon Liat Building. We paid about 4k just to reconnect?! Is it worth it? Maybe. Our 2.1m single solid Amercian walnut wood slab does make an entrance. We had organized several gatherings over our 6mths stay here and we are glad that it survived through almost anything even steamboat and BBQ session. The largest group we hosted for was about 25pax or more. This set of dining could fit max 10 pax each round. This definitely worth the price tag. However, maintaining its condition is definitely not; as fuss free as other materials. The major challenge which we cant avoid is the scratches. Having children working, playing, eating or even doing their crafts on this dining = more scratches. Our solid wood table is still at its top notch condition, no stains nor damages from hot dishes other than that only very minimal scratches.
  • It also comes with 2 arm chairs, 3 chairs and a bench. Our 4 kids has already found their individual spots whenever it comes to meal time. It has slowly become the center piece of our home to CONNECT everyone tgt.
  • This is the open space between our dining and living. It has become our multipurpose space to deal with different scenarios. - running space for the kids - activity games - MJ sessions - catering more seating space for bigger crowds Very functional, aesthetically pleasing and practical.
  • If you never realized, we requested not to have false ceiling done so that we have ample ceiling height and not feeling claustrophobic. Yet at the same time, we want to create ambience for a cozy night movie with the kids and/or friends over the weekends. We chanced upon this Hagaa light (L bracket), where it would be able to recreate the effect of cove lights without installing L box in the ceilling. So many pros pointers for choosing this lighting option: - saved money - Aesthetic - Easy to change - Low maintenance (prevent nesting space for lizards / spiders) - no low ceiling Otherwise, NO CONs at all for us! Its worth taking a look at them if you are looking for coveless covelighting.
  • We requested for a pantry area at our dining for various purposes: 1. Shoe cabinet 2. Daily bags deposit 3. Mask storage / any other miscellaneous 4. Dry snacks storage 5. Table top space for future gathering 6. storage space This huge carpentry was well design to cater for our needs, most importantly giving us sufficient storage. It has been very efficiently used and not cluttering other areas because of this storage space provided.
  • We added some texture to the top carpentry with fluted panels, so that there would be some visual contrast. Mrs first concern is usually "easy to clean?" 6 months in, we have yet to clean or even dust it. We are happy to share that such a small area of fluted panels with little access, there is very minimal cleaning needs to be done. It is also not on our eye level, the more we could give them a missed in a long long while. haha
  • One of the tall towers is cater for dry snacks and supplements. The intention is to allow easy access for everyone / anyone. The lower tiers are snacks for adults and children, we purposely made it reachable to all our kids whenever they request for snack breaks. This would help our children grow independently. Its also helps us parents to lessen our parenting role at times. For the upper tiers are supplements and other additional snacks for refilling purposes. We also cater a small portion to store our recycling bags for groceries runs. Just grab and go.
