  • When planning to renovate a kitchen, I calculated the number of items and cabinets I would need. It's essential for us to understand what we cook and how we use the kitchen.
  • I divided it into two parts. The first one is the dry kitchen, which includes the kitchen island, refrigerator, and breakfast area. The second part is the wet kitchen, which comprises the kitchen sink, stove, trash bin, broom storage, and even the laundry area.
  • The first part is the dry kitchen area. The concept of this house is a classic farmhouse. I chose natural colours with glossy sintered stone for the countertop and backsplash to make them easy to clean and give a modern touch. For the cabinets, I used shaker style to achieve a more classic look. Since shaker cabinets can be a bit costly, I only used them in certain sections.
  • I prefer a countertop with minimal items, which is why I created a cabinet for the oven.
  • The second part is the wet kitchen. For the wet kitchen area, I decided not to use a white tabletop because, from my previous experience, sintered stone tends to change colour over time. That's why I opted for a grey colour. Selecting cabinet colours presented its own challenge since grey can be a bit difficult to match with other colours. I chose white for the upper part to make it appear brighter and combined it with wooden tones for a more classic look. For the backsplash, I chose white tiles with grey grouting to resist staining easily. As for the flooring, I selected tiles in a similar colour to the wooden cabinets to keep it simple and uncluttered.
  • Are you aware that the cabinet colours in the dry and wet kitchens are the same? Yes, I only differentiate them by the colour of the door handles. For those of you currently renovating your kitchen, I strongly recommend getting a dishwasher. It's a valuable addition, particularly for small families with kids. Say goodbye to dishes on the countertop, and enjoy a consistently clean and dry kitchen.
  • One of my favorites features of this kitchen is the kitchen sink soap dispenser. I bought it on Shopee, and my contractor helped with the installation. I use one for hand soap and the other one for dishwashing soap.
  • Utilizing cabinets to conceal pipes, I use them to store the vacuum cleaner, broom, and cleaning supplies, complete with outlets for charging the vacuum.
  • Can you guess where I placed the trash bin? I put it under the sink. The pull-out trash bins I bought from IKEA are incredibly useful. 1000% LOVED IT!
  • Our washing machine dan dryer. We're pleased with our choice of the grey colour as it complements the overall kitchen decor.
