  • Well hello there! Please come in & take a look at our entryway! The setup & colour palette of this space are consistent with the rest of the home. We painted the main & bomb shelter doors white so that they could blend in seamlessly with the white walls. The shoe cabinet was custom-made from Taobao & we've placed a Guan Mao Yi or Chinese Officials' chair beside it for sitting down while putting on the shoes.
  • This is what greets you after you've entered the house. As we did not conceal the bomb shelter door, we're able to keep the space open & airy, and big enough to accommodate this large pendant lamp from Ikea as a statement piece you'll see the moment you open the door.
  • We replaced the DB Box cabinet doors with better quality ones & installed some shelves to turn it into a mini shoe cabinet. The main shoe cabinet looks like a traditional Chinese medicine cabinet. We got the inspiration from an IG post & thought it was a brilliant idea. However after months of looking at the available original vintage ones there was none that had big enough drawers that can fit a pair of shoes. That's when we turned to Taobao & found a cabinet maker who specialised in these.
  • We used the size of our biggest pair of shoes as a guide for measurements of the drawers so that all our footwear can be put in easily. For the bulkier high cut boots we stored them in the bomb shelter.
  • We've placed a mirror at the entryway so that we can check ourselves before heading out. Care was taken to ensure that the bomb shelter door doesn't hit the mirror when opened fully.
  • Another way to use the mirror.
  • Interestingly the entryway is the area you'll find most of our Chinese antique furniture. It is our way to pay homage to our identity & culture. These items did not look out of place in our overall Scandi theme. In fact they've added richness & variety to make our home a unique one. We hope you've enjoyed this little tour. See you at the next one!
