When designing the primary, we deliberately kept it simple to give ourselves a room to recharge, away from the demands that await us outside the bedroom door. The walls were painted a soft shade of white to allow our eyes to feel relaxed and a gentle blush pink behind the bed to contrast with the green outside. The uneven finish was a touch of quirkiness Nicole thought of to avoid the oppressive feeling of being in a rectangular box. Our tips: Play with colours on the colour wheel. Use complementary colours to add your own personality to the home. Did you know that pink and green are opposites on the colour wheel? Think Squid Game and the colours featured in the show and how each colour stands out from the other.
With the floor-to-ceiling L-shaped wardrobe fully extended from the bedside table to the toilet door, we maximised whatever space we could spare for the never-ending struggle to find more storage space. Our tips: The top of the wardrobe is fairly inaccessible due to its height, especially if you’re staying on the top floor of your HDB. That’s almost 30cm of additional vertical space! Convert it to a display-cum-storage compartment to show off those boxes you can’t bear to throw away or store those bulky winter clothing apart from your main wardrobe.
1.5 years ago during our ID photoshoot, the wardrobe looked like this - but soon we realised we needed to fully maximise the space so things had to be rearranged!

The wood laminate here are a continuation of the laminates used for the kitchen island. To add a softer touch to the room, a slight rounded edge was done to both the sides of the wardrobe. Future child-proofing maybe? And the handles are of a matte golden finish, further enhancing the dark wood laminates it accompanies.

One request from Nicole was to have her standalone dressing table for her daily routine. We planned for a space wide enough for her to fit a 1m dressing table next to the bed. The result? Happy wife, happy life.

We’re pretty sure everyone has the same struggle of not knowing where the “worn-but-not-dirty-enough-to-wash” clothes should go. That’s why we have a clothes rack for those clothes that we will wear again but still ensuring that there is enough ventilation to avoid stinking up the “clean-clean” clothes. This clothes rack has wheels attached so it can be easily moved around, making the clean up much more convenient.
