  • From candlelit dinners to chaotic brunches, our dining space bears witness to the beauty of our everyday chaos. Here's to the simple moments that become lifetime memories.
  • Hello from our dining space! This is the view we enjoy every evening over dinner. The warm glow of the lights; a cozy ambiance that’s perfect for sharing meals and stories.
  • With the windows framing a picturesque sunset or the twinkling city lights, it’s more than just a place to eat; it’s where we create memories and savor every moment together.
  • I’ve always imagined having a big wooden slab as our dining table—a perfect spot for people to gather, share meals, and chat the night away. Since we love hosting, we wanted something truly special. That’s why we picked a gorgeous suar wood slab with a raw edge. It’s more than just a table; it’s a warm, inviting centerpiece that makes every get-together a bit more memorable.
  • Finding the perfect suar wooden slab table was an adventure in itself. We shop-hopped to find the best deal and were taken aback by the prices in Singapore. So, off we went to JB on a table-hunting adventure. We stumbled The Wood Colony and scored a fantastic deal on the table of our dreams.
  • We reached out to The Wood Colony, expecting the quest for our perfect wooden slab to be a daunting and risky endeavor. The process turned out to be really fuss-free and smooth. They even sent over a handy guide to make our journey easier.
  • 📍The Wood Colony No 11, Jalan Ekoperniagaan 2/5, Taman Ekoperniagaan 81100, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
  • We’ve always had a soft spot for natural wood tables because each piece is truly one-of-a-kind—no two slabs are exactly the same. We love incorporating natural elements into our furniture choices, which brings a touch of the outdoors inside. By customizing certain features of our furniture, we end up with exclusive, personalized pieces that are more like works of art than just functional items. It’s all about adding a unique and organic touch to our home, making each piece special and full of character.
  • The Wood Colony made the whole process easy and personal by offering us the choice between selecting wooden slabs from pictures they sent over or visiting their showroom. We felt that finding the perfect slab was something we had to see and feel in person, so off we went to their showroom. There, we were greeted with a curated selection of slabs and, after exploring all the options, we finally found the piece that caught our eyes and hearts. Now we have a beautiful slab that perfectly fits our space and style.
  • We finally found the perfect suar wood slab; each piece tells its own story. Can’t wait to share many more meals and memories around this stunning centerpiece.
  • Having a suar wood table comes with its own set of quirks, like water marks and scratches. A common question we get is whether maintaining it is a hassle. Luckily, we’ve got it covered! We’ve placed a thick clear plastic on top to keep it waterproof. Once a month, we pamper the wood with a dose of Howard's Feed-N-Wax. So far, our table has stayed in great shape with no damage in sight. It’s all about a little care to keep it looking fantastic!
  • Another standout feature of our dining space is the striking black brick wall, done up by brick cladding. Black interior walls was a bold choice that many shied away from. But today, it’s all about embracing sleek, modern vibes, and the dramatic impact of black truly delivers. It adds a touch of sophistication and contemporary flair that we absolutely love. Spot the queen of our dining table; hoping for a runaway crumb.
  • At the heart of our table is a super functional tray that keeps everything we need within easy reach—think tissue box and a quirky cute cat toothpick holder. Since we’re a household that loves our scents, we’ve also got candles and essential oils on hand to create the perfect ambiance. It’s all about blending practicality with a touch of personality. The scent of choice for this season; - Candles of Light in Dawn; a lavender, citrus and mint - The Slow House in Contentment; a blend of peppermint, rosemary, geranium, bergamot, lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus
  • Our dining space doubles as my work zone, where I tackle the endless flurry of paperwork. When I’m working from home, you’ll find me nestled on the bench, hunched over my laptop with a coffee always within arm’s reach. It’s my cozy, multitasking corner where work and meals blend seamlessly.
  • Dinners are always better with Netflix! We’ve swapped our Sony TV bracket for one that swivels, so we can enjoy our shows while we eat. As kids, we were stuck at the dining table at mealtimes and miss out on TV, but now we’ve embraced the best of both worlds.
  • The developers originally had a glass panel so the chef could see beyond the kitchen, but we decided to remove it. Now, we’ve got a charming little hole in the wall where piping hot meals are served through. It’s like a nod to that childhood dream of having a cozy little diner right at home! Spot Ax, our occasional chef serving up a piping hot meal of Japanese hamburg and curry with a fluffy scrambled egg on the side. We are a household that loves going on culinary adventures and we cannot wait to share our experiments and creations with you. Thank you for joining us on a tour of our dining space and we welcome all our friends to crash this space and create more memories together!
