  • Welcome to our humble nest! We are a couple living with our cat, Daikon, who's sure to make an appearance in some of our posts. Keep an eye out — you never know when she'll pop up in the background! As we open our home and showcase the little treasures within, we hope you feel the warmth and love that fills our heart. After all, our handle is @hellokokoro, where "kokoro" means heart! *** Today, we're excited to show you around our master bedroom! With its muted tones and minimalist furniture, this space offers a serene, peaceful retreat — perfect for unwinding after a long day.
  • Here's the view as you first step into our master bedroom. The previous owner combined it with an adjacent room, giving us a more spacious layout. For a closer look at the floor plan, check out our home tour post!
  • We chose to keep the parquet flooring in the bedrooms because we love the rich character of the wood grain. If you haven't noticed yet, we have a real appreciation for woody elements throughout our home. To complement the flooring and add texture, we placed a circular cream rug off-center from the massage chair, creating a balanced yet relaxed vibe in the room. Fun fact: the massage chair was actually our very first piece of furniture for this home, largely thanks to the generous contribution from the missus's company. No regrets at all!
  • Let's take a look at the right side of the room as you enter. Here, you'll find our wardrobe, built in a clean streamlined line and finished with a light laminate for a bright, airy look.
  • The wardrobe features a subtle arch design, adding a touch of interest without compromising on storage space. We also opted for sleek bronze handles — one short and one long — to create an asymmetrical look that enhances the overall aesthetic. We're really happen with how they turned out, bringing both style and functionality to the space!
  • Behind the massage chair, we've set up a playmat as Daikon's play area. The playmat is reversible with two designs! It's not only easy to clean and waterproof, but its soft surface also provides a great spot for our furkid to enjoy her downtime.
  • Next to our wardrobe is the sliding door to our master bathroom. The door is finished in the same laminate as the wardrobe, creating a seamless flow and maintaining continuity in the design. It features a classic two-panel design that mirrors the design of our bedroom door. The in-pocket sliding door designed by our ID (https://www.olivecreekstudio.com/) is both space-saving and practical, sliding neatly behind the wardrobe when open for a seamless, uncluttered look.
  • One last mention of our wardrobe — two of the doors actually conceal the aircon ledge and the window! We've made great use of the space inside, storing our exercise mats and iron steamer there. It's incredibly practical and does not hinder access for the repairmen should they need to climb onto the aircon ledge.
  • Now, let's move on to the other "room" which was originally a separate space. The beam above is a remnant of where the two rooms were once divided. With its calming colors, subtle textures, and carefully selected furniture, it's a space designed for ultimate relaxation.
  • In this part of the room, we have our king-sized bed. With the two rooms combined, the bed feels even more spacious, allowing for a relaxed flow and makes the room feel even more inviting. We also chose a ceiling fan with blades in a warm wood tone, which complements the natural hues of our furnishings.
  • We picked a wooden bed frame (of course!) paired with matching bedside tables that offer generous storage for the missus's 101 skincare and some books. We've kept our sleeping space minimal, as we really value the simplicity and tranquility it provides. Although we considered hanging some art, we decided to leave the space as it is as we wanted to create a calming environment that is less cluttered and provides us with a restful retreat. Daikon loves the bed just as much as we do!
  • If you haven't noticed, nearly all of our master bedroom walls, including the beam, are painted in a limewash-look textured paint. This paint is apparently easier to maintain and does not discolor as much as limewash! It creates a soft, organic depth that brings character to the room. This finish is also one of the reasons we chose not to hang any artwork; we wanted the walls themselves to stand out, letting their unstated elegance add a quiet charm to the room without any extra adornments.
  • In this room, we have both day and blackout curtains in soft grey that perfectly complements the wall design. The grey tones enhance the subtle, natural look of the walls, creating a cohesive and calming atmosphere. The day curtains allow soft, diffused light to fill the room (we use it for day naps or when it's especially sunny), while the blackout curtains provide complete privacy and darkness. Highly recommend this setup, especially if you're sensitive to light while sleeping! Makes a huge difference in sleep quality.
  • Here's a better look at the matching bedside table that came as a set with the bedframe. We love how the warm wood tones stand out against the textured paint, adding a beautiful contrast that highlights the natural grain and gives the room a cozy feel.
  • The headboard which features a dark denim-like fabric, adds a unique touch of texture to the room. And did you spot something special on the mister's bedside table? Yes, that's a projector!
  • This is why we decided to keep the wall opposite our bed white — save for the ceiling, it's the only white wall in this entire bedroom! This choice was intentional, creating a clean, unobstructed surface perfect for projecting our favorite shows and movies. The massage chair is also thoughtfully angled to face the projection! This positioning allows for ultimate comfort, as we can sit back and let the chair work its magic while still being fully immersed in the show.
  • This is also why having both day and blackout curtains is essential for us — especially when we're watching something during the day! The blackout curtains help create the perfect cinema-like atmosphere, allowing us to enjoy the projection without any glare, no matter the time of the day.
  • Having a projector, particularly in bedrooms, is also a great space-saving solution and keeps the room looking clean and fuss-free. Daikon loves the projector just as much — here she is glued to her Youtube cat clips, enjoying them a little too much!
  • Since the bedroom door is in the middle of what was once two separate rooms, we wanted to avoid installing traditional door stoppers that could create a tripping hazard. Instead, we picked up these cute door weight stoppers on the floor, which do the job well! Next to the bedroom door, we've added two brass poles for our bath towels. The warm gold tone complements the bedroom door handle perfectly, tying the room's details together. And with that, we've reached the end of our bedroom tour! From the texture of the walls to the carefully chosen furnishings, every element in this room is meant to enhance comfort and create a peaceful sanctuary. We hope you enjoyed the journey through our space as much as we do living in it!
