Step into our office! ☺️ We're excited to give you a glimpse into our home office setup! While it’s primarily the missus who uses this space – for all things content creation, editing, and bringing her creative projects to life – we thought it’d be fun to showcase how we’ve designed the space to be both functional and inspiring. From the carefully chosen furniture to the little details that make the space uniquely ours, we’ll be sharing how it all comes together to support her daily workflow. Oh, and if you look closely at the cover photo, you’ll spot Bucky lounging in the corner – this space has definitely become one of his favourite spots to relax while we work. Let’s dive in! Ah, yes. As you can see, Bucky has claimed the edge of the table as his personal lounging spot. Logically, that would be the ideal place for setting up a computer, since it’s the widest part of our curved table. But, as you might’ve guessed, there’s no question about who truly holds the power here—it's not the missus or her tech setup, but the cat! That spot is all Bucky’s. As a result, the missus has to shift her desktop and laptop to the center. Interestingly, this actually works out quite well—having the monitor positioned between the two arched windows not only creates a nice visual balance but also keeps the windows easily accessible for opening and closing. Our home office setup is refreshingly simple: a table, chair, desktop, and laptop. The missus keeps her other content creation gear, like the gimbal, here as well. Fortunately, we don’t need any complicated filing system, since she doesn’t handle physical paperwork or files that need to be stored. This makes it easy to maintain a minimalistic and clutter-free workspace. The "home office" is conveniently located right next to her side of the bed (of course!). Beneath the desk sits our mini fridge, which, as we've mentioned before, holds our favourite beverages and chocolates—perfect for those late movie nights when we're too lazy to head downstairs for a snack. On the opposite side of the space are the windows, where we also have a small 'work space' of sorts, thanks to the boxing up of our aircon brackets, which gives us a nice alternative should we want a change of view of the outside instead. You can see it below! Yup, this space here is not only an alternative work space, but also the perfect spot for us to enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the world go by outside. As you can also imagine, this is yet another favourite spot of Bucky for him to birdwatch! Let’s talk about the setup! We knew right away that we didn’t want a traditional office table. Staying true to the organic shapes and curved lines in our home, we searched for something that would complement that aesthetic—and we found this beautiful curved desk on TaoBao! We chose a 2.2m version to span almost the entire length of the wall, and the arched windows above create the perfect backdrop. It’s honestly the most perfect touch to the whole space. The next best addition? The office chair, which we’ll dive into in more detail now. Honestly, this chair has been such a great addition, and we have zero regrets splurging on it! It’s a bit unconventional, we know—our son even asked, “How do you sit on this chair?” the first time he saw it. Haha! As someone who enjoys sitting cross-legged and loves a dynamic workspace, the office chair is truly perfect for the missus! It isn’t your typical office seat! Designed to encourage active sitting and movement, it allows you to effortlessly shift between positions – whether that’s sitting cross-legged, kneeling, or even a more traditional seated position. This flexibility keeps you from being glued to one spot, helping to relieve the tension that builds up when sitting extended periods. For anyone who enjoys sitting cross-legged, you’ll know how hard it can be to do that comfortably in a conventional office chair. The lack of a backrest gives you the freedom to sit however you want – cross-legged or in any position that feels natural. This chair adapts to you body rather than forcing you into a stiff, unnatural posture. The absence of a backrest may sound unusual, but it’s actually been a huge improvement for her posture. Without a backrest to lean against, she's naturally more mindful of her posture and actively engages her core to sit upright. This prevents the slouching that often happens with traditional chairs, keeping the spine in a more aligned position throughout the day. Here, you can see the missus sitting with her knees up—perfect for when she’s deep into reading something on screen and needs to rest her elbows on her lap with her chin in hand! Sitting in a chair that doesn’t support the back encourages you to be more mindful of your body’s movements. You'll be more in tune with your posture, how you're sitting, and how your body feels, which helps you avoid stiffness and discomfort over time. It’s a great way to break the habit of mindlessly sinking into bad posture! Even if you want to sit like a coffee shop auntie, you can! 😂 There are actually a myriad seating positions you can try with this. And despite its unique design, this chair still offers the practical swivel functionality of a typical office chair. The part where your bum rests lets you easily rotate and access different parts of your workspace, making it both comfortable and functional – ideal for multitasking! Beyond the health benefits, this chair is just plain fun to use. It stands out from conventional office chairs and adds a touch of individuality to our workspace. Thanks so much for taking the time to read about our home office setup! We hope it gave you some inspiration or new ideas for your own space.❤️
