  • Welcome to OurTaynyHouse! Our humble home follows a design choice so basic, that some might classify it the Uniqlo airism tees of interior design. Introducing our Muji / Scandi / Minimalist themed home. Fun fact, we didn't engage an interior designer for our home. Instead we worked with a contractor and just showed him what we wanted from Pinterest photos, Tiktok videos and Instagram. Too bad we hadn't discovered 'HipVan Ideas' when we were renovating our place...but oh well. Anyway here is the entrance to our home. Who knew that HDB gates could be so modern and stylish. We kept our corridor area relatively neat with nothing much besides a floor mat from Ikea and a plant we bought from Ban Nee Chen Nursery at Kovan. Comment down below how many plants you see throughout this home tour.
  • Since this is a housewarming post, here is a photo of us on the day of our key collection! Oh how our home has changed since then! Check out our key collection video in the link below:) https://youtu.be/Y278N2SGQbo?si=EfMbbYiN7cmnSG_H
  • Here is our floor plan. As you'll see in subsequent posts, we knocked down several walls and shifted a door or two just to allow more light and air to pass through the entire house and to give the impression that the space is bigger than it actually is. We also host friends quite a bit which is why it was super important that we made the house an open concept so that conversations can flow no matter if you are in the kitchen, the living room or the spare bedroom.
  • POV: You are our guest entering into OurTaynyHouse and this is what you see.
  • Out of site out of mind, gotta hide our DB box somewhere hard to find.
  • And...we are in! Are you in the living room? Are you in the dining room? Who knows? We just know that we love being able to engage in conversations happening throughout the house no matter which room you're in. On your left you are greeted by the beautiful fluted panels that hide the rawness of our bomb shelter. Walking forward a bit, you'll see the dining / living room. Everything had to be designed with space optimisation in mind. Knocking down walls really does help open up your home, giving the illusion of size.
  • A perfect date isn't going out for an expensive dinner or going to the theatre... It's snuggling up under our throw on a rainy evening to watch 'HIMYM' with a box of cookies and a cold glass of milk. Speaking of date night, good thing we have our standing mirror from shopee so that we can always take a cute fit pic before we leave the house. We hope you're still counting how many plants we have in our house...
  • Yes we know we have not pulled off our protective sticker:)
  • From bacon and toast to Mala Xiang Guo, this dining table has seen us through many meals. Perfect for 4 but expandable to seat 6.
  • Neither a study room or a bedroom. More like a second living room. Whether is it to chill on our beanbag with a nice book or do some indoor HIIT, this room is our 'go to' room for that. We do have intentions to redo this room when our little one comes in the future. For now, we will call it our 'Cha Pa Lang' room. Still looking out for plants?
  • Designing our master bedroom was such a headache. HDB's proposed layout only allowed enough space for a 2 door wardrobe, which was totally not enough. We met so many IDs and contractors before we managed to restructure the room in order to fit a queen sized bed, a 5 door wardrobe, a shelve and a vanity table. Of course we had to knock down another wall, dismantle a door and put it back up, but it was well worth it.
  • No balcony? No problem! Being a corner unit, we transformed the corridor space into our own little coffee corner. We hope you've enjoyed our simple house tour, stay tuned to this space or follow us on IG to get more HDB content. Cheers:)
