  • Our kids' room was one of the main reasons we moved from our previous 4-room BTO. In our old home, we had three rooms: a master bedroom, a combined children’s and helper’s room, and a study that doubled as a cat room. It was manageable with one child, but when our second child arrived, the space became too tight. We wanted to give each child their own space, especially when they are older since we have a boy and a girl. Now, everyone has their own room!
  • Understanding how quickly kids grow up, we chose a neutral base for the room with minimal built-ins, leaving it open for flexible furnishings that can evolve with their tastes. The only built-in piece is a large, customised floor-to-ceiling wardrobe. While a loose wardrobe offers more flexibility, we opted for a built-in to maximise space efficiency and avoid dust accumulation on top. To future-proof the room, we designed the wardrobe with adjustable AA tracks, allowing us to customise the shelves as our children’s needs change.
  • Since our daughter is still too young, our son got to choose most of the room’s furnishings. For now, they will share this room, but we’ve already prepared another space for our daughter when she’s older and ready to make her own choices. At the time of renovation, our son was really into dinosaurs, so we added cute dino-themed door knobs. These are easy to switch out if his interests change.
  • He also loves rainbows and bright colours, so we installed a track light with interchangeable downlights, allowing him to pick his favourite colours. This setup can be easily updated as he grows.
  • We opted for a super single bed—spacious enough for our son as he grows, but not too large, leaving plenty of room for toys and a future study area. The elevated bed allows for easy cleaning underneath, which we preferred over a low-rise bed that might have made cleaning more challenging.
  • The day-and-night curtains are a must-have, offering privacy and allowing us to create different vibes, from cozy to blackout, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep.
  • One of our favourite features is the giant peel-and-stick rainbow decal behind the bed, which creates a playful faux headboard. We DIY it and could’t be happier with the results. These can be easier removed without damaging the wall.
  • We got this shelves to place some of their current favourite books!
  • This room is always work in progress! Right now we’re planning to add some shelves and frames to display our children’s artwork. Any suggestions are welcome!
