  • Hello everyone! Welcome to our modern farmhouse-inspired home in the East. Our house is a 850sqft 2+1 (study) resale condo. As first-time homeowners and foreigners, buying a home in Singapore could be challenging, especially navigating through the renovation. We're glad to have Cheryl from Roomable to help us throughout the whole reno process from designing to styling. As a designer myself (not interior-related), my design sense also helped us make a lot of the tough major decisions along the way (IYKYK), while my husband acted as a cheerleader haha.
  • From the beginning, our direction was clear. We wanted to create a space that is bright, cozy, and inviting regardless of having a tiny space and an unconventional dumbbell layout. Without changing much of the original layout, we focused on utilizing and maximizing the space in the kitchen, bathrooms, and walk-in wardrobe.
  • Right after stepping into the house, our tiny kitchen is the first welcome sight. Since both of us are not into cooking much, we opted for an open-concept kitchen incorporating materials like wood, fluted columns, rattan, and white laminates with a hint of gold to create a modern luxe farmhouse kitchen.
  • Our design goal is to allow more light into the kitchen, and also increase countertop space so we can have more areas to prep/eat foods. Instead of having top kitchen cabinets, we decided to use a mix of shelfies and hood cabinets with glass panels to open up the kitchen.
  • In order to soften the overall look and make our home more welcoming, our home uses a lot of curves, especially in high-traffic areas like the entryway. I personally had the painful experience of hitting my toes all the time with sharp edges of the furniture, so having curved corners and arches became my top priority in our home reno.
  • We have zero built-ins in our living room. Our stylist, Cheryl worked her styling magic and filled it with loose furnishings and textures that complement each other in this space.
  • The living room is one of my favorite spaces in the house as I spend most of my time here.
  • For our MBR's feature wall, we went simple by painting 3/4 of the wall with Edgecomb Grey paint from Benjamin Moore, as our ceilings are pretty high.
  • Inspired by curves and Scandinavian elements, we used a mix of wood, white, and taupe colors to create a warm and cozy ambiance to sleep in after a long day.
  • Stay tuned as we unveil more parts of our home. Like or save this post for later and follow us for more home content! IG: @broccolini.home
