A Living Room with TLC: Textures, Lighting and Colours

Hello and welcome to our living room! (: Be it a space to chill and chat with friends or a resting area as we keep our eyes fixated on the television, this is our living where countless hours are spent. How did we manage to style it with TLC (textures, lights, colours)? Let's zoom in on a few more details to expand on this detail. First, let's start with the point of view (POV) from when you are seated on the sofa. In this snapshot, we kept to the same colour of white for all items situated on of our TV console to keep the space consistent in terms of colour. As for textures, we played around with different materials like the paper lantern which contrasts the glossier coats on our devices. For the flower pot, it has a rugged texture to it that creates a matte finish in comparison to the others. For Mr T, it was of utmost importance to get good sound quality and so we invested in a SONOS sound bar and subwoofer which you can spot in other pictures. As mentioned earlier, to keep the look cohesive, we ensured they both came in white. Now, let's move on to the seating area. To continue creating visual interest in this space, we tried to vary the textiles for the seating area which ranges from the jute lampshade from Island Living, to the woolly texture of the throw on the couch. As most of the colours in our living room were also neutral, we do love the pop of colour that our orange pillows provide to the space. Considering an accent colour in your living room can be helpful in breaking a colour palette that may seem too repetitive or boring! Here's a close-up of the different textures that make for a comfy seating space in our living room. In terms of window treatments, a light and airy feel was recommended by Ryan from End Curtains after he saw our 3D renders of our space and thus we proceeded with these double pleated day curtains. With about 30% sunlight blockage, the curtains allow for just enough light to filter into our living room each day to create a soft look to our space. 
Next, let's look at some other smaller details which helped to promote a more cohesive space. First of which is our lime washed painted feature wall which our television is mounted on. We had chosen the colour Conrete from Kalklitir as our living room tiles are grey as well. A close-up of the Legrand switches that we chose are featured here. They may not be the exact same shade of grey to match the walls but it was still a deliberate decision made to ensure that the switches do no stand out in a different colour oddly. During sunset, we get lovely sunset rays on our feature wall love the shadow play that comes with natural lighting. For those curious about our other devices, here are some details of them as follows: - DECO X90 Wifi mesh - 24K BTU from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Once it is dark outside, we love to use decorative mood lighting to set the vibes for a cosy night in. This brings us to the subsequent point of considering different ways to light your room from table lamps on your TV console to standing lamps apart from the usual one-light-on-the-ceiling situation. This is also renter friendly since you can simply unplug the lights without making permanent changes to the space! This is how our different lighting options play out from afar! For details of lights on our ceiling, we first have a set of track lights to functionally brighten the back area of the sofa. Additionally, we have the light from our KDK Airy ceiling fan which is what we use for task lighting (such as when mopping the floor). And those are all our tips!
