  • Welcome to my brilliant turquoise home office! This space was originally an open-air service yard balcony that we closed up with double-volume windows. It’s a lovely place to work - a high ceiling floods the place with sunlight, making it bright and energetic. We wanted to assign a function to this space that would let us spend a lot of time here, and a home office purpose was perfect.
  • This space houses a rubbish chute - but after realising it allows in pests, we don’t use the chute at all. It’s disguised as a cupboard, and if you opened the doors and looked inside, the chute hopper is sealed up with masking tape. From the outside, the styling of the space gives no hint that a chute hopper hides within. The aesthetic has hints of mid-century and vintage, but the many gold fittings give a more luxurious feel compared to the cosy vibes of the rest of the house.
  • Some random objects on a shelf. Normally, the objects on styled shelves have no functionality. But at least the shelf lets me house two of my most-used items: my aromatherapy stone and my label-maker.
  • Facing the window is the second desk. The sunlight is harshest on the occupant of this desk, and we realised quickly that we needed automatic ziptrack blinds to shield the heat and glare of the sun. The windows already had UV film applied, and it was still intolerable to sit at this desk for any duration of time. With the blinds down, it’s quite comfortable.
  • Facing the double-volume windows, a fluted glass door provides some privacy for anyone using the kitchen whilst conference calls are going on. Just visible on the right side is my Mustard Skinny locker that oddly goes with the vibe of the whole space. A unusual choice that somehow works.
  • A look at the drama of the double volume windows. It looks almost like an upscale Manhattan loft… Until you notice the view of the HDB flats :)
