  • My kitchen is pretty small but I’m proud of how well we’ve utilised the space. We don’t have a service yard so cooking and laundry is all done right here.
  • The original layout had a wall dividing the kitchen and dining area, making both spaces small and odd-shaped. So we hacked the wall and shifted the fridge and part of the kitchen into the dining area. This worked out perfectly for hosting big parties as the counter space and shelves double as a drinks station. It also gives our young children have access to the dry pantry area to get snacks and water.
  • Muji and OXO are my favourite brands for kitchen tools. They design every product so well and only use the best quality materials so I rarely have to replace my tools even after 8 years.
  • Empty countertops look great, but accessibility is important if you want to cook regularly, so we keep our regular appliances on the counter. We have a vintage Thermomix, Instant Pot Pressure Cooker and Airfryer for every day cooking!
  • We place the kids’ cleaning equipment at their eye level so they can help with cleaning small spills and messes, and also clean up after meal time.
  • The kids have their own drawer with all their cutlery, bowls and cups so they can help themselves at any time.
  • A peek inside the kids’ drawer.
  • Our young girls love to help around the house and we welcome them to join us in the kitchen so they can learn to contribute and serve others too. Follow me on Instagram @themillennialaunty for a peek into how we make the most of our space every day, plus simple cooking tips you’ll love!
