  • Welcome to our humble nest! We are a couple living with our cat, Daikon, who's sure to make an appearance in some of our posts. Keep an eye out — you never know when she'll pop up in the background! As we open our home and showcase the little treasures within, we hope you feel the warmth and love that fills our heart. After all, our handle is @hellokokoro, where "kokoro" means heart! *** Welcome to our study room! This is the part of our home where we do minimal renovation work. There are no built-ins in this space. We wanted to keep this room flexible to adapt as our needs change. Currently, the setup works well for one of us who works from home daily and the other, who primarily works from the office but occasionally takes ad hoc calls from home.
  • This is a standing desk and it's tabletop is made of solid angsana wood and measures 140cm, providing plenty of workspace. We chose adjustable monitor arms to optimize ergonomics, improve screen positioning, and keep the desk tidier. We also choose IT gadgets that are wireless and try to keep the work top as neat as possible — we find that starting the day with a clean desk helps set a positive and focused frame of mind!
  • With so many devices, there are actually more wires that meets the eye, but they are tucked away in this cable management box, keeping most of them hidden from view at eye level.
  • Here's another angle of the work desk. Since this room isn't very large, the open style bookshelf helps maintain a light, airy feel and prevents the space from looking bulky. We also selected an ergonomic chair that combines both comfort and style for a perfect balance of function and aesthetics. On a side note, can you spot Daikon trying to sneak in through the cat flap?
  • And how could we forget little touches like these? This gacha reminds us of our cat, Daikon!
  • This bookshelf is still a work in progress, filled with bits and bobs. If you spy with your little eye — the missus is a fan of Harry Potter and Ghibli!
  • On the wall next to the desk, we've hung a wire grid with postcards clipped to it, adding a personal touch to the space. It's a fun way to display memories and add some fun to the room.
  • We're enjoying the process of decorating it gradually, at our own pace. We hope to fill it with items that spark joy and hold special memories.
  • On the opposite side of the room is the mister's desk. It's a simple, L-configuration non-standing desk, but super spacious. We also painted half the wall in a taupe-like color to add some character to what would otherwise be a rather bare room.
  • Here's a close-up of the wall color, along with the bare essentials on the mister's desk!
  • Next to the mister's desk, we have a cat tower facing the window. Daikon often take her naps here while one of us is working or doing paperwork.
  • Here she is! We've also stuck some illustrated cat postcards near Daikon's cat tower, adding a playful touch to the space. One final mention of this room is the curtains we choose. They're not 100% blackout light in our master bedroom, but instead made of a linen material with 70% blackout — we love how the soft sunlight filters in during the morning! And that wraps up our simple study room tour. It's a space we've intentionally kept flexible, allowing us to use it in different ways as we go about our daily activities. We hope this gave you some ideas on how to create a functional and personalized workspace that brings both joy and inspiration!
