Welcome to @nestandcoop! 🐓 This is a 5-room resale HDB unit spanning 1370 sqft, currently homing a young couple with two dogs. We’re just getting acquainted with our new space and would love to start by sharing a little more about what guided us in our choices. 😊 
Our vision for the home was heavily inspired by mid-century modern designs from nordic countries, with the use of darker woods, curved edges, lots of warm ambient lighting, and a colourful yet complementary colour palette. 
We find this style particularly beautiful because of how elegant and unique each home can turn out to be, and we resonate with the idea of investing in a home that can withstand the test of time. 🕰 
Something else we tried our best to do was to thrift secondhand or vintage furniture - there is so much waste involved in every house renovation, and so many stories waiting to be told by preloved pieces! Our coffee table, TV console, even the foot stool in the corner you see here - these are all gems found on Carousell for half the original prices. 
As dog owners, we also took steps to make sure that our house is designed in a way that creates defined spaces and facilitates play. For example, we chose large format tiles over vinyl for the entire house to reduce chances of slipping and provide a cooler resting surface for our rather large dogs. You’ll also spot a ton of dog paraphernalia that we’ve planted all around the house! 🐕 
Lastly, we kept in mind to reduce built-in carpentry and invest in loose furniture that we could bring with us or shift around for more flexibility and fun. The carpentry we have only consists of the shoe cabinet, bedroom wardrobes and kitchen cabinets. When we host big groups, we tend to shift around smaller pieces to create more space.
